What a Weekend!
This seemed like a very long weekend. It was so much fun, but had so much stuff packed into it that I am/was quite exhausted. AND, I’ve somehow wrecked my back! It hurts so stinking bad! It’s hard to sit, not so bad to stand, and laying is fine as long as I don’t move. Which makes night time and sleeping SO MUCH FUN! I’m a thrasher, and it’s gotten worse in the last year or so. I think I must turn a million time a night. I don’t know why Jon hasn’t banished me to another bed….if he slept like I do – I’d think about making him sleep somewhere else! Ha Ha – not really. I don’t even think that except for trips, and retreats..thing like that…that we’ve ever not slept together in the 10 years we’ve been hitched. None of that “couch” stuff for us…….nope, we just stay up all night and duke it out if we have a fight. I think that we are just both to stubborn to leave the comfort of our bed just ’cause we’ve had a fight. It’s kinda one of those “draw a line down the middle, and don’t cross on penalty of death” things. Not that that’s really any better! Especially for the person who stays awake the rest of the night upset because the other one has so easily fallen asleep. Well! How did I get on that? We haven’t even had a fight recently, Hmmmmmmmm! Oh Well, on to bigger and better things…..like this weekend.
On Friday, Pam and I left for the States. We were going to a Ladies Retreat that Pam was speaking at, and I was going to be her support, and to just generally help to lighten the load. Well, I ended up playing a 12 string guitar(I only just recently was given a guitar) with the lady who was leading worship at the retreat. Just me(guitar) and her(keys.)
Pam told them that I could play, and told them to ask if I wanted to help them out. Oh, Yah, Sure! Sign me up! Well, I had just recently asked God if He had anything He wanted to say to me or the Ladies at the retreat, and He had just told me that “He would take us deeper and farther and higher than we’d been before – if – we were willing to follow Him past the walls that we’ve created, and away from those things that tie us down, and hold us back. Then He would take us out into the wide open space into freedom.”
Kinda hard to say no, when you’ve asked, huh?
You can check out some pics of me playing that weekend at the gallery on the church’s website
We were done that Retreat by lunch time, and then went shopping. Hit Ross, and T.J.Maxx! Got Christmas dresses for the girls – 2 beautiful dresses(I’ll post pics of the girls all dressed up when I take some) for only $28US. I was so happy. Came home, and went to bed,and then up the next morning and off to the next retreat.
What can I say? I’m so popular everybody wants me….okay, seriously it wasn’t about me at all. They just wanted my kids.
Yup, my 2 girls went to a Youth Retreat as the Ministry Team with Pam. She was speaking on Hearing God’s voice, and wanted her SUnday school class to be an example. So we left at 8am, and headed for Camp Zajac – up past Stave Lake – Nice place! The kids had an assignment the night before – to ask God to give them a word for the teenagers at the retreat(incidently it was a Retreat for the New Life Christian Reformed Youth Group and Koenraad Beugelink is the Youth Pastor – for any who know him)
Geli’s word was
“God made the land
God made the sea
God chose you
So you could be free!”
For those of you thinking that’s a little weird! God speaks to kids in kid language – don’t expect God to give them a holy thus and thou word – not that He can’t, but usually He speaks to you on your level!
I thought that the whole idea that “even though He created everything in the world – He chose Me so that I could walk in freedom” was so cool.
Xan got this
“You can pray, but just let Me answer.”
I think that so often we ask, and then don’t shut up long enough for Him to speak to us; or else we rush off trying to do a million other things and don’t wait for the answer. Regardless, I am so happy to have my children growng up in a place where they are learning to hear God speak to them on a daily basis. It’s so cool!
Any how, we got back to Abbotsford just as our church was starting(2pm Sunday afternoon)We had a good service, and it was finished by 4:30pm. We came home, and I was ready to hit the sack! In bed at 9:00pm, and sleeping by 10:30pm.
I actually went walking this morning – 4x around the track, and even better news – the kids are back in school.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH! Can you tell I’m happy?
Bye for now!
