Christmas is Coming!!!
It’s the 14th of November, and I usually am so excited about Christmas. The decorating, the presents, the shopping, the baking, the music……….everything Christmas!
I’m not really feeling it this year, and I’m not sure why? I’m hoping that by November 25th that has changed, and I’ll be full in the Christmas Spirit.
I usually set up Christmas 1 month before Christmas……hence the date November 25th. Actually, this year it works out that I only have that one day because the day before is American Thanksgiving and the day after I am at a brunch with my mother-in-law’s church in Vancouver.
We celebrate American Thanksgiving because Jon’s family is American….well, sort of. His father was born an American. His mother was born in New Zealand. His brother was born in Papua New Guinea, and Jon was born in New Zealand. Jon had dual citizenship, New Zealand/American and then when we were dating or maybe just “friends,” Jon became a Canadian citizen(well, his whole family did)
It’s kind of a huge mish-mash of nationalities, combined with all sorts of places that they lived while they were missionaries to Indonesia, and various other places that they have lived in. Back to American Thanksgiving…..
We celebrate American Thanksgiving with Jon’s Family and Canadian Thanksgiving with my family. That way we get to spend a Thanksgiving with both of our families every year insted of missing one every year. I think it’s an awesome thing because nobody gets left out. Too bad the same couldn’t happen for Christmas.
I’m looking forward to Christmas, but at this point I just don’t have the same excitement that I’ve had other years. I think I might dig out my Christmas music early, and hope that helps.
I’ve also got 2 Cookie Swap’s planned for the 28th and the 29th. Seems like a bit much, but at least I’m getting it all done together instead of spreading it all out. HUGE Stress and then finished! The first one is with my family, and the second one is with my church.
Well, I guess I’d better go and clean my house. The kids have today off school, and if I don’t keep on top of things then I’ll have an ENORMOUS mess to clean up tonight…..and I’m hoping to get to bed early tonight,(still tired from the weekend.)

[...] Well, I still don’t feel very Christmas-y! I mentioned that I hoped that by the 25th of November that I’d feel all festive and cheery. Hmmmm, the 25th of November has come and gone, and I’m still not feeling it. I feel a little more excited that I did on the 14th, but not as much as I usually do! I’m not very happy about that either! [...]
