Merry Frustrating Christmas
We had my side of the family’s Christmas celebration, yesterday! On Boxing Day(here in Canada the day after Christmas is called Boxing Day)
I’m not really sure why – I think it has something to do with the monks opening the poor box and giving money to the needy. I’m sure that if you really cared you could “google-it“.
We had a lot of fun. Tim and Lisa were able to come home from Saskatchewan. Tim is playing hockey for Briarcrest College. It was so nice to be able to see them. They are doing well. The whole starving student thing is hard, though! They are here from Dec 20th through ’till Jan the 6th(I think) and Lisa was telling me that when they get back, almost all Tim’s games are away. So, she going to be missing him lots. Ahhhhhhh!
We started the day off really nicely. I totally forgot about stuffing for the turkey. This is only the second year that I have done the big dinner, and last year was just pretend. My mom and dad took care of everything, and I just sort of hosted and then cooked the prepared food. So, Jon went to the store - ON BOXING DAY – the worst shopping day of the year. He said that the parking lot was completely packed and everyone was at a standstill. He’s so sweet to go and get the stuffing. I woulda just said, “Forget it! We don’t need stuffing that bad.” I guess it’s one of those “Tradition” things.
We opened presents, and ate and played some games, and ate, and watched hockey, and ate, and played some more games, and ate some more……when it was time to go, everybody just rolled out to their vehicles, and squished into their seats….except for us. We just dropped where we were and vowed to never eat again. I think I must have gained 15 pounds just yesterday.
I took so many pictures yesterday, and then this morning when I was going to sort through them, I realized that I screwed something up. I took more than 200 pics yesterday. I emptied my camera twice. BUT, there is an error on the card, and the very first picture never transfers over to my computer. So, when it gives me an error message I just ignore it figuring that it’s just that one corrupt file. I’ve never had a problem before.
This morning I go to download the rest of the pics that I shot last night and was too tired to deal with. I got an error message about half-way through the download. When I looked into the file on my computer, I only had half the pics from my camera. I went back to find the ones from yesterday. I had downloaded them, and then when I got the error message(half-way through the particular download) I figured that it had finished, and so I shut it all down and deleted all the pics from my camera. I only had about 20-30 on my camera from last night. So, All my snappy, happy picture taking from yesterday- GONE, DELETED! I am so upset! I take a kerjillion pics, and then throw away all the bad ones. At this moment, I have a grand total of 25 pictures from yesterday. SUCKS! I mean, seriously, that SUCKS! I can’t even believe it. Hence the title – I’M SO FRUSTRATED!
No pics of the kids opening their presents, no pics of my dad, no pics of Nina(who came late), no pics of “J and his boys”…..
Yesterday before everyone showed up, He must have asked about a dozen times, “WHERE ARE MY BOYS? WHEN ARE THEY GETTING HERE, MOM?” He loves his uncles. The only problem is that he plays rough with them, and then when they play rough with him – He cries. He’s not really a rough little kid – He just hasn’t learned the difference between play and real. Oh well, one of these day’s he’ll figure it out.
All my stupidity regarding the pics aside, we had a great day, and it was so nice to have all the family together again. Now that Tim and Lisa are so far away, that doesn’t happen too often.
Well, now I have to go begging from family for photos from yesterday. Hopefully, I can get a hold of some ….before Easter.
