At Least They Look Normal
I had somebody make a very funny comment the other day.
They had just seen J’s hair for the first time. They looked at me and said, “The three of you guys have weird hair…….I mean……”different” hair styles. At least your girls look normal!”
My response, “Yah, I know! They have such boring hairstyles.”
I was shocked! I can’t even hardly believe that someone would say that to my face. I mean, I’m not that shocked. People say a lot of stupid things, and I have been the recipient of a lot of those comments. I’m sure that they are not intentionally trying to be hurtful. They are just stupid. I mean, They are just not thinking.
After I got in the car I wish I had the time and opportunity to say something like……Yah, if only I was allowed to color their hair, but the school that we are at will only let them have “naturally occuring” hair colors. I’d give them pink and blue and purple and green streaks if they were allowed.”
As it is, I’ve streaked my kids hair before, and we do color it weird in the summer. If I had my way we’d all look a little weird unique, all the time.
Normal is boring as far as I’m concerned!

My daughter asked me yesterday when could she have pink hair. She’ll have to wait until the summer – the school…
My little 3 year old son likes to have “Handsome” hair – that’s what he calls it. All spiked up with LOTS of gel in it.
I have fire red hair right now (not all people in my occupation like it but oh well, I’m glad I’m not here to impress anyone…) but am off to the hairdressers soon to change it again, new season = new colour.

ya got to love people’s comments!!! not that I have had that comment about my kid’s hair cuz….well it’s normal or boring or however you want to say it but it’s my style…..so that’s all there is too it. You have your style and that’s great…… I wake up with a mowhawk everyday!!! think they might be jealous of your freedom with your style….did that make sense???
