Almost a Free Pass to the ER

I almost made it to the hospital, but we’ve put it off for one more day.

Xandra came into the house screaming this afternoon, and Geli ran up the stairs and yelled, “Xan’s been hit by a car.”  Wow, If that doesn’t freak you out, I don’t know what does.

At first look, there was no blood, she still had all her teeth, and there were no bones protruding through the skin.  So far so good.  She was holding her left wrist as she cried hysterically on the bottom step.

I very calmly panicked.  “Jon’s not home, and I have no idea what to do or even how bad it really is.  Now what?”  I ran around in a few circles in the landing at the front door.  I could see a green van parked outside, but no people. Was it their fault did they run into her or did she run into them.  Did she fly through the air…..what?

They were just as upset as I was – I think they were more scared that the crazy white lady was going to flip out or sue them or something.  I tried to get the story from them, and then realized that while I was outside trying to figure things out, my daughter was inside hurt – what was I doing?  They all followed me inside my front doorway and pronounced her to be fine.  Thank you very much – I think I can handle this!

We said a round of “sorry’s” and I got her upstairs.  She was shaking, I think, from the shock of it all.  Our next door neighbor had brought a cold pack, and we put it on her wrist, but it still hurt pretty bad.

I called my mom, and to make a long story short we took her to a clinic.  Wonder of all wonders we got in to see the doctor with in half an hour.  He figured it was just soft tissue damage, but wrote us up a X-ray form to go to the hospital tomorrow if it still hurts really bad.  He tensor-ed it up and we were good to go.

My Grandfather came and drove us home.

I’ve fed them all, and put them to bed, and it’s only 7:15pm.  I’ve had enough excitement for today, and they were a bit wound up from the upset of it all.

This is only the start of my chaotic week.  Jon is doing sound for a conference all next week, and is basically gone from 7am on Monday morning until after midnight on Saturday.  Doesn’t it sound like a lovely week?  Would you like to trade?  I hate being a single mom.  It’s too much work.  Any of you single mom’s?  I don’t know how you do it all.  I’d crack if I had to do everything all of the time.  I’m dreading just one week.  I hope your kids really treat ya well tomorrow.

Happy Mother’s Day!

WOW !! I can’t believe that you went thru that tonight!! Where was Jon??? How is Xan ??? What exactly happened?? Keep an eye on her. That happened to Shayna once – she was riding on her bike towards VAlue Village- guy came up thru the back alley – never even looked and clipped her with his bumper – sent her flying! thank God she had a helmut on. All he did was dust her off, apologise and left !! If it hadn’t been for two teenagers that walked her home, I don’t know what I’d do. She was more sore the next day that the day she was hit. AND she had some headaches but they started later also. Soo…keep an eye on her! If you need anything, let us know!!
