It Should Be Okay, right????

Well, if y’all are perfect then you won’t get this, but those of you a little more like me, enjoy!

Have ya ever left your dish rag in the sink for a little too long?  You know, you’ve used it on your dishes, on your table, on the floor, back on your dishes…..on the bathroom floorokay, okay, just kidding!  Even that’s going a little too far for me.

You leave it for a few days, and one morning walk into the kitchen and something just smells a little off.  You’re not really sure what it is, and you chalk it up to the garbage can being full of last night leftovers.  You make a mental note to tie it off and put it in the garage.  You finally get around to taking the garbage to the garage, but realize that it really doesn’t smell quite like what you are smelling.  No matter, it’s dealt with – Problem solved!  A little bit later, the stench (it’s turned into a stench by now) is overwhelming your kitchen.  You pick up your dishcloth, and wipe down the table, wipe the counters, the front of the fridge, and fill up the sink to do the dishes.  You finish the dishes (all with this same cloth, mind you), empty the sink, wring out the rag, and drape it over the faucet to dry off.  You walk out of the kitchen.  The smell is still there, but maybe it’s just left over from something, after all you’ve just cleaned EVERYTHING!  As you’re leaving the kitchen, your nose is itchy, you reach up to scratch it, and ALMOST DIE FROM THE STENCH COMING OFF YOUR HAND.

Just to be absolutely certain, and to torture yourself again (just in case the first time wasn’t quite foul enough)  you tentatively place your hands under your nose and sniff once more.  At this point you are gagging, and contemplating amputation all at the same time.  You race in to the bathroom to find the most perfumed soap you own to try to get rid of the smell.  No matter how many times you wash your hands, you can still smell that foul odor on your skin.  Is that because it has soaked into your skin, or is it that the trauma of that odor assaulting your senses has faked you into thinking that it’s still there????

As you are trying to figure out what to do, and contemplating spraying perfume directly up your nostrils regardless of the sting, you are struck with a horrific thought!  You have taken THAT RAG, and wiped it on every. surface. in. your. kitchen.  That bacterial infested slimy odorous rag has contaminated your kitchen with it’s stench and now you have to remember what you washed and put away so you can rewash it.  You are thinking of the work, of the effort, of the time it’s going to take you to rewash everything, and contemplating just not eating or drinking until everything has gone through the dishwasher at least once.  It should only take a day or so to go through all the dishes, and surely your kids and husband won’t die from a little bacteria…..they’ve ingested worse when they were little and they’re still alive.

Does thinking this way make you a bad person?  It should be okay, Right???

I thought I was the ONLY ONE who did that!! Thanks for making my world seem more ‘normal’ – is that right??!!

It’s good to know I’m not alone. I hate using dish cloths because a day or two later they are slimey and smell bad. Then I hate ringing them out to put them in the wash, getting my hands all smelly. Yuck!

who needs immunizations when you have natural immune boosters floating around the kitchen? I’ve had 3 or 4 smelly rags crusted in the sink, at the same time!!…that’s when I decided to hire my sister to clean my house.

I thought for sure this was a Lysol ™ commercial.

I’m almost positive the germies are only living in the wet stuff. As soon as the surfaces dry they will be dead.

    Yeah, that’s the ticket.

Trust me worst stuff happens in my kitchen.
