Revealed

Well, I read a post about a tattoo.  She has a story behind her tattoo.  I decided to show you mine.

I don’t really have a story behind mine.  Well, there is a life time behind mine, but no big momentous occasion.

First the background and then the pic, just ’cause I’m a tease like that.

I grew up in North Vancouver.  We lived basically in Lynn Canyon.  We lived about 10 house from the canyon.  I loved it.  As kids we spent so much time down there.  We were pretty much water rats.  That has nothing to do with my tattoo.

In North Van. and specifically the Lynn Valley area, we had a lot of bikers.  I remember the Hells Angels and the Gospel Riders. I’m sure there must be other groups, I just don’t happen to know about them, so if you are a part of one and I some how missed you, please forgive me. Moving on…..

For some reason I had a fascination with the bikers.  I think that I was drawn to “bad boy” types who were real softies.  How I ended up with Jon I don’t know.  Not that I, in any way regret marrying him.  He’s perfect for me, and I love him dearly.  Again, I digress…

From what I remember, we spent a lot of time in the Canyon and there was a restaurant/concession type place that had the most AMAZING BREAKFASTS.  We went for breakfast a lot.  The bikers went as well.  I LOVED their tattoos.  Loved, Loved, LOVED!!!! their tattoos!  I remember trying to stare without looking like I was staring, ’cause who wants to get killed for ogling some 300lb. bikers tattoo.  Ha ha ha *nervously laughing*  Just kidding right!  Not like I’d get killed for that, right, eh?

The thing that got to me was that they seemed so normal.  They had wives and kids and they yelled at the kids and also hugged them.  Sounded just like my family, minus the swearing of course.  They cuddled with their wives/girlfriends.  Again, totally normal.  They just happened to wear tons of black leather.  Hey, in the late 80′s and early 90′s this was totally normal too.  Hee Hee!  They rode motorcycles.  I thought that was totally cool and beat my dad’s two-toned purple Caddy any day, even if he did have 2-way motorized adjustable seats.  And the tattoo’s!!! OH. MY. GOODNESS.  The tattoos!!!  Like, I could have died and gone to heaven.

If I had unlimited resources, I’d probably have way too many tattoos.  Maybe it’s a good thing they cost so stinking much.  Or maybe I’m just too poor!

The biggest problem was that even the thought of tattoos was TOTALLY TABOO in my house. If you even thought about having one or even likeing them, you’d be going straight to hell, do not pass go, do not collect $200.  I remember feeling so jealous in Grade 12 of one of my high-school friends that had gone to Gastown and had the Canadian Flag tattooed onto her ankle.  I remember wishing that I had the guts to defy my parents and get one.  But nope, I was a good little girl.

Once I got married, I figured that I had to be all mature and grown up and put all those foolish thoughts behind me.  By the time I reached 28 years old – what a geezer, eh? – I still wanted one.  I figured that the desire probably wasn’t going to go away, and I might as well quite dreaming about it, and actually find something that I liked and just get it done.

So I did!  It didn’t hurt nearly as bad as I wondered if it might.  They are totally addicting, and I already have ideas as to what I’d like to get when we have money to blow.  Right now, I am acting mature and paying off bills and feeding my kids.

The funniest part of this particular post was me trying to take a picture of my own butt.  Yup, I am totally going to flash you.  Are you ready?

Not as bad as you thought or imagined, eh?  I was even nice to you and cut out the butt crack.  I was even nice to myself and photo shopped out all of the stretch marks.  Wasn’t that nice of me?  I think so.  After I took the picture and downloaded it onto the computer, I was surprised once again, at how beautiful it is.  I searched for what felt like forever, and found it on a German site.  I had it modified a little and blown up so that it covered my lower back.  I figured, either “Go Big or Go Home”  I almost wish that I could see it more often.  Oh well, I know that it’s there, and for now – that’s enough!

I’m dreamin’ now………. if I had the money.  I want the same kind of style on my leg from my calf down around my ankle bone.  I would also like to have the same kind of style on my upper back, and to have it kind of curl around my arm and over the top of my shoulder.  No color.  Just the black ink.

Well, now you know a little bit more about me.  How about you?  Any tattoo’s you got hidden somewhere or anything else interesting that you’d like to reveal?

never thought you’d hear this from an old fuddy duddy like me but I think it is very pretty. It took a while for me to get used to the idea of skin art but to each his own. Have you seen Janelles new butterflies? They are amazing she has six or more new ones on her right bicept and shoulder. Daryl got Ben to print his name on paper and then had it tattooed on the inside of his wrist, too cool. You get used to anything and I think your tattoo is great for you. O even got used to the nose ring and tounge ball thingy wow

I change my mind too much to actually get a “real” tattoo. I’ve seen some real pretty ones and ones that look disgusting and ones that are so faded it looks like a blob. To me… it’s too permanent and it goes back to me always changing my mind so much, what I liked 10 years ago I don’t like today and so on. I guess I’m not as wild as I thought…

I really like your tattoo. It’s one of the more tasteful ones I’ve seen. A friend of mine has Roy Vickers portrait of Jesus tatted on his left shoulder…half of the face is normal and the other looks like a native totem. It’s almost ethereal, it’s so pretty. I love tattoos. Favorite TV show is Miami Ink. And I doubt I’ll ever get one. Too old. If I did though…it be rosary beads around my ankle.
