It’s Official!
Our kids have been registered in the neighborhood school as of about 15 minutes ago.
Jon came with me to the school to meet with the principal. Yah, all my bad/insecure feelings from yesterday were all apart of my messed-up-ed-ness. I’m doing much better today, didn’t even consider crying infront of the principal. So, we have him good and faked out that we’re just a normal happy family! HAH! Little does he know…….
I think that the kids will be so happy there. It’s a great feeling school. The principal seemed to understand what we were talking/concerned about with regards to Jeremy. He even has a teacher in mind for him that he thinks will be perfect. He made mention about the differences between boys and girls and how boys learn so differently, and how it might be harder on J being a December baby and blah, blah, blah. He gets “it” – our concerns, andhopes for Jeremy. It’s very comforting to have someone who seems to understand and be a real advocate for the kids with challenges. I think that J will be happy and comfortable because he will be right in the middle of the kids as far as his abilities. The school has about 80% ESL kids in it, and because of that they have a big focus on verbal communication and testing and reporting as far as the kids are concerned. He also mentioned that not too many kids leaving kindergarten are reading yet. It sounds like J will fit in perfectly.Â
I think the girls will do well beause they will have friends that live close enough to do stuff with. It should make a big difference for Geli to have friends her age to play with , and not the Grade 1 kids that she has been hanging out with ’cause that’s who Xan and Emily(Lala’s kid) play with. The girls have the summer to work on some friendships, and so that will be something I encourage.
I’m happy about all of this. It’s a little nerve wracking ’cause I don’t know what to expect, but I’m glad that we are doing this. I think it will be a positive experience for all of us.Â
No more uniforms! I love the uniform, but when you are freaking because you have no clean white shirts – it sucks! I don’t have to buy school supplies! We will get them through the school in September! No more 15 minute drives! It’s a 7 minute walk! No more freaking out to leave the house at 8:15am! We will walk over at 8:30am!
I’m really looking forward to school in September. I wish it were starting now!

Hey, that sounds great! I went to public school for about 1/2 my education and look how great I turned out!
You guys have a solid home/family life, which is so much more important.
