Looking forward to September 6th
That is the first full day of school. Actually, I am really looking forward to the following Monday – September 11th – when things should be in a nice little routine. I have all my kids in full day school this year. Have you heard that before? Have I mentioned that little bit of info before? Can ya tell that I’m just a little excited about having the house to myself? I have so much that I want to do with the hours in between 9am and 3 pm. I’m not sure that I’ll even be able to fit it all in, but I’ll sure try!
Today was C.R.A.Z.Y. and freakin’ expensive, and we haven’t even gotten the bill from the school for supplies and stuff! AAAAaaarrrrgggghhh!
We left the house at 12ish, and went into Langley. We had a chiro appt (remember me telling you about how much I LOVED my chiropractor – still do!) for the WHOLE family, and while that’s not cheap – I haven’t taken them in 2 years ’cause we haven’t had the cashola; but with some carefully applied financial bits of advice, I’ve managed to save some for them to go. Now I just have to save enough for them to go back at the beginning of next year!
Anyway, back to my kids and the chiropractor….it’s amazing how awful he can make you feel as a parent with just a few choice words about how out of alignment your kids are. Not that this is really making you want to go – if the Dr. is going to be bagging at you that you should have come sooner ’cause your kids are growing, and are SO OUT! It’s even worse, when he asks you to take a look, and it’s PAINFULLY obvious that your child is standing on a weird angle with his left ear, shoulder, hip and foot about an inch shorter than the other one. A lot of crunching later (which all my children giggled through – just in case you’re wondering if this is painful or scary ~ it’s not!) he’s standing much straighter. Xan is growing tall through her hips to her shoulders which is perfectly normal for an 8 year old, and she needs to stretch out her shoulder muscles, and Geli’s legs are growing freakishly fast, which is normal as well, and she just needs to stretch out her thighs and calves! I’m doing much better than I was a week and a bit ago, and other than being a little stiff, Jon is fabulous! Now that you’re all caught up on our chiropractic health I’ll move onto the other stuff we managed to fit into our afternoon.
We actually heading in a little early for our chiro. appt., and went to LensCrafters to pick up some new glasses for Xan. We should have gotten her a new pair in April, but we didn’t have the cash at that moment, AND when we did have the cash, I didn’t want her to wreck or scratch or lose them over the summer as we were camping and doing other stuff! I told her that we;d get her a new pair just before school – Apparently that was today! One freaking Hundred and seventy two dollars later, and here she is in all her new optical glory!

So, we picked out her glasses, ran up to the Chiro appt, after the appt we went swimming for an hour at the Rec. Center (’cause I just love running around in a bathing suit when I feel particularly fat, and today was a feeling fat day), and then headed back to LensCrafters to pick up Xan’s new glasses ’cause they weren’t ready ’till 5pm.
All of this wouldn’t be so bad if I had been able to drag my lazy butt out of bed at 7am like I had planned to. I had the WORST sleep last night, and was SOOOOO tired this morning! Might have something to do with a certain little boy that crawled into bed with us TWICE last night, and by the second time I was too tired to move him, but too uncomfortable to sleep good! Oh well! I’ll give it another shot tonight! Mom’s don’t need to sleep, do they???
But, that explains why I wasn’t able to accomplish all the other stuff I wanted to do this morning! I dragged myself out of bed at 8:40am, only because I have a standing appointment with Jon as his “administrative something-or-other” at 9am to discuss the day and how it will all work out! I had to fit everything into 3 hours! I did manage to fold 6 loads of laundry, and semi-work through our budget. That was on top of breakfast, shower, get kids ready to go for the day & swimming, and lunchtime! I’d really like to get some stuff done tonight, but remember that little tidbit about not sleeping last night – Well! I’M TOO TIRED! I think I’m going to watch Rock Star: Supernova, and obsess a little about Dilana’s hair, and then go to sleep and dream about days to come when I have the house clean and I can do whatever I want! Hey! Don’t Laugh! I can dream about it, can’t I?

Your little girl is so cute!! My 5 year old son wears glasses and we just got his new pair right before school started, too. Those things are outrageously expensive!!! Hopefully you got sleep and are having a good day!!

HI! Sounds like you had a busy day!! And..I think I could use a chiro appt. too, so my back was ‘feeling’ the adjustments as I read your blog!! Just to let you know, that the eye care place where Shayna gets her glasses, has a special thing for kids ( all the time) – she got her new glasses ( frames and lens) for $98. Check ‘em out. So..next week, you’ll be living the high life eh?? House to yourself – kids at school – Jon at work! Wow!! Do I hear ‘scrapbooking anyone’???
