Kickin’ It Into High Gear

Yah, it aint’ really happening. I’m aiming! I have my sights set, but I feel like I’m thigh deep in mud!

I just cant seem to get going on as fast as I’d like to. Once again today I don’t feel like I’ve accomplished what I wanted to. To be honest, it’s not like I had a set list of things to do, and I wasn’t able to cross stuff off. I seem to be stuck at getting it all out of my head and down onto paper in some semblance of order. Heck! I’d be thrilled if I could just get it down on paper.

I did go and buy some large poster paper that I’m hoping to use for a Morning Chart, an Evening Chart, and Chore Charts for the kids. Now if I could only figure out what to put on them - then we’d be good to go. I seem to have all these good intentions, but I’m stuck idling in neutral. At this point, I’m frustrated enough that I’d settle for first gear. I’m not even thinking about cruising at this stage in the game. I think I need to sit down and write everything that I’m thinking about down in point form. Then I should separate it all out into stuff to do today, stuff to do before school starts, stuff to do after school starts, and stuff to not worry about. Honestly, even that sounds overwhelming. What is wrong with me? AAACK! I hate this!

Oh well! I did make salsa the other day! Ummmmm Monday night! Jon took J to his soccer practice, and I stayed home with Xan to turn 20 lbs of tomatoes into salsa. It was fun…..for a while, and then I got sick of skinning the tomatoes, and squishing the tomatoes, and cutting the tomatoes, and onions and garlic and peppers and well, when 11pm rolled around, and every last jar had popped sealed - I was so glad it was finished! Mind you, in the same thought pool I was also trying to figure out who I could convince to make salsa with me next year so I wouldn’t have to do it by myself again! So, it must not have been as bad as it seemed, or else I’m just plain stupid! I’d love to get a hold of a pressure canner, and can a bunch of tomatoes, and beans and corn and……whatever else I could think of! It’s fun! A lot of work, but when you can look at the rows of cans all neatly stacked with their contents sealed and preserved - it just gives me a sense of satisfaction knowing that I did that! Yah! Sad isn’t it, when I get all worked up over neatly stacked rows of fruit and veggies!

Oh well! I gotta get working on this leaflet that I’m supposed to do! Jon has once again taken J to his soccer practice, and he even took the girls. I have until 7:30pm with no one around to get this done. Aaaaaahhhh! Peace and Quiet! I Love it! It’s like a sneak peak of what it’s going to be like in one week. (Ha ha - I’m a poet and I didn’t even know it ~ what a dork, eh?) I can’t wait!

I, hear by volunteer to make salsa with you next year. I LOVE making salsa..and I would have this year, but as you know, we had absolutely NO room in our car for bringing back any fruit or vegies of any kind! So…if you want to make more, I’ll do it with you. Have you ever made antipasto?? It’s awesome too!
So..hang in there. I think you’re amazing!…oh..and now I’m off to SuperStore to try and find a couple of those cute tanks you hand on!

Hi Patti t I think you are doing great with your canning and it looks so great.talking about charts—- do you remember the book I gave you It had all sorts of chart ideas for your kids(cannot remember the name of it) Grandpa and I did peaches to-night ,he peeled and chunked them and I sliced and put them in freezer bags and directly into the freezer. His sister Cathy did this some years ago and it worked great. The lazy way I know, but after our first year of marriage ,a brand new baby and canning every day til the wee hours of night ,the thought of it just makes me feel exausted. Not a great example am I ??? I am sure every thing will come into place for you come next week and you will be fine. I remember how competent you were when it came down to doing things at the last moment(in Romania, remember.??) Remember “be anxious for nothing ” oh how I need that at times –like this comming Sunday. Good night Love you.

oh, am I too late to get in on the salsa?? Six hands would be even better than four! I would also be in for the antipasto. Anybody up for dilled carrots?? They are easy and very yummy.
I was very surprised at really how easy canning is, and am looking forward to doing more, and your right it is nice to do it with someone.
