What Happen’s When You Lie

So, Jon got back from Indonesia, and we were going through some pictures, and having a good laugh.

It seems that the kids over there are very cute, and very friendly.

We were looking at this picture

Indonesian Hello

Aren’t they cute? Jon and I were laughing at the little girls in the bottom left corner. See them??? Two of them are teaching the third one how to flip the bird. Too funny!

Xan came up, and asked what we were laughing about and what was that a picture of. As I stifled my laughter, I told her that the little kids were just waving at the camera and saying hi in Indonesian. No Biggie, right?

That what I would have thought, but yesterday Xan came up and asked me how did the Indonesians say hello. I really have no clue, and so I sent her to her dad to ask.

Jon tells me last night that he came around the corner at one point yesterday and saw two of the neighbor kids looking horrified, and Xani was flipping them the bird. As she does, she says, “This is how they say hello in Indonesian.” Nice! Very Nice! The two neighbor kids are both in grade 5, and know full well, what “the bird” is all about. I can’t believe that out of the whole picture, that’s what she saw.

Now to explain to her that that’s not how that say hello in Indonesian…….what do I say? How do I say it? Should be a funny conversation!
