Whirwind Christmas

Filed under: Family, Life, Special Days, Too Cute, Xandra — December 27, 2006 @ 1:15 pm

Just to let you know that I’m still in the land of the living……ta da! Here I am!

It’s has been a CRAZY couple of days!

It was WONDERFUL, and yet I”M SO GLAD IT’S OVER!

I still have one more big event to plan for and then I have a whole week of nothingness! I’m so looking forward to it.

Saturday actually felt like Christmas Eve to me. We ran around and got all the last minute things needed for Christmas.

Sunday felt like an extra day stuck in the middle for no good reason other than to prolong the pain pleasure of waiting for Christmas Day to come.

The kids were nuts, and we think that Jeremy has inherited some of his Aunty Debbie’s spazzy-ness. She used to run around the house before Christmas and just erupt with screaming when the excitement of it all built up inside of her too much to just keep in.

He was so excited for Christmas to come, and would just tense every muscle in his body up until he was shaking, and then he’d scream. It’s not like he did this every 2 minutes, but it was cute. I wondered if they’d ever get to sleep.

We had the traditional waffles and strawberries and ice cream with my Grandparents on Christmas Eve. So much fun! We brought the kids home after that and tidied up a few things and finally they were allowed to open their first present which….surprise of all surprises was…………pyjamas! Who coulda guessed?

I think that they were all sleeping by about 8:30pm so we didn’t do too badly! J was up at 6am, but Xan won the goof ball prize this year! She woke up at 1am, and without her glasses on thought it said 7am. We told them they weren’t allowed to get their stockings until 7am. So she headed out to the tree, and somehow figured out that it was actually 1am, and not 7am. She snagged a blanket from the back of the couch, and slept the rest of the night on the couch. Funny little girl!

We had a great Christmas morning, and I got a ring! WAY better than the last one, not that the last one was not great, but this one has emeralds in it. I LOVE EMERALDS! I’ll post a picture soon.

My family showed up after noon, and we had a fabulous day! At the end of the evening, we (as a family) watched the movie CARS. The funniest thing about that was the conversation that we had a few days earlier with the kids.

Me: So do you think that everyone would like to watch CARS.

Kids: Yah! That would be fun!

Me: I think that Papa would like ‘Mater the best.

Xandra: I think so too, ’cause Papa is just a rusty old fellow.

Me: (trying really hard not to bust a gut) Really? A Rusty Old Fellow?

Xandra: Yah! And they have all those Rust-eeze guys!

The conversation later picked up again as Xan and Geli had a fight about whether or not “rusty old fellow” meant that he was grouchy sometimes!

Too Cute!

Our kids finally went to bed around 10pm, and unfortunately didn’t sleep in the next morning. Nope! Up and at ‘em between 6 and 7am. YUCK!

I was stressed because we were spending the day with Jon’s parents and a bunch of other people that they invited over. I wasn’t sure how the kids would act. They did pretty good, but it was hard, ’cause it really wasn’t set up to accommodate the kids.

There was a lot of adult conversation, and not too much attention placed on the kids. So, I went up to the living room, and played games and Lego with the kids. We survived until about 6:30 and then we packed up and I so hoped that the kids would fall asleep on the hour’s drive home, but NO SUCH LUCK! They were still awake when we got home at 8pm.

We fell asleep very soon after that, but again were up way too early this morning. As frustrating as that is, it also is nice ’cause it means we can put them to bed early tonight! I love me some early bed times!

I’m boiling the turkey carcass right now, and folding laundry like a mad woman.

We have our HUGE family get together on NEW YEARS DAY, and I have to get ready for that. That means that I have to clean my house, but my house ain’t too bad, just a little untidy!

Well, I’ll try to get my pics up here soon! I didn’t take as many as last year……that’s good and bad…….you can throw away all the really bad ones if you have a billion pics, but if you don’t have so many, then you gotta make do with what you got…..but you also don’t have to go through so many! Oh well! Hope you all had a great couple of days! Cheerio!
