A Change
Well, I got my hair done yesterday. My sister in law owns a salon in Burnaby, and if you need your hair done, don’t know who to go to, and live reasonably close, check her out. It’s a gorgeous place, and she is an amazing stylist (if you can get her), but has a fantastic staff who are all really good too. Chez Liliane…go…check it out….I can wait……….
Are ya back yet? Oh good! So, I haven’t had my hair done in about a year. I think it was February or March last year that Liliane did it the last time. I really have no idea exactly when it was or why I haven’t gone back, but it probably has something to do with the miscarriages, and not having enough money. Things have been tight with Jon’s business, and sometimes it came down to a choice between food or whatever else we were wanting or thinking about, and I’d say that 99.9% of the time food won out. We’ve done okay, and have actually paid off some of our debt even though it seems like not enough has come in. I guess that I’m just thrilled that the debt load has shrunk, and not increased…That’s ALWAYS a good thing, eh?
Back the the hair….so I haven’t had it done in a year. That doesn’t mean that I haven’t tried myself…..’cause I have. I haven’t done much of anything with the back, but I had tried to cut the top a bit - It was getting WAY TOO LONG and just kinda hung limply. I trimmed a little at my bangs, and stopped, when using the thinning shears I managed to cut a HUGE HUNK out of the top of my bangs. That was hard to hide for a while, but I think I did it, as no one laughed at me. Maybe everyone is just too polite…….yah Right! I did color it last year in the spring or was it fall…….I don’t know. I do know that I threw one boxed color on it, and some how it faded close to my natural hair color.
The biggest thing I’ve been struggling with has not been the color, although I know that I have a naturally mousy brown color. the hardest thing has been the dead ends. Because I had a short hair cut that grew out, I had a lot of layers, and after a year - it gets pretty nasty. If you look at my last post, you can see how long it was. We didn’t go SHORT, SHORT this time, but it’s still been cut quite a bit. That’s okay ’cause it’ll grow back, and at least it’s healthy.
The other thing we did was to color it. I’m not a huge fan of blond. I don’t mind blond streaks, if they are just a few big chunky ones. I don’t want to look like I have blond hair. I’d rather it just be a bold statment, and almost fake looking - I don’t like blond hair (on me) I
have the wrong color skin tone to do blond. I’ve done all sorts of reds in the past, and purples and blacks, and….and…..well, that’s pretty much it. I did so much red at one point, that when Liliane tried to dye a few streaks blond, we ended up with pink ’cause my hair had been colored so many times with red. I walked into the appointment yesterday saying to Jon that Liliane was going to kill me ’cause I had NO IDEA what I wanted. Usually I do. I usually like it to look wild. The wilder the better. I’ve just gotten comfortable in my boringness. Any way, the color I currently have is quite a bit different than what I’ve had for the past year. We are back to red and loving it. I forgot how much the red brightenes up my skin. She put a purple color on for a base (to hide the mousey brown) and then threw in some copper highlights. Pretty ain’t it?

I told J that I want to get my hair done again, after I get my first paycheck though of course! and I want to get it like one of the girls on American Idol, the one with the black hair with pinkish chunky streaks…….I have always wanted that!!! I have the hair cut already pretty similar, he said I should go for it, so I think I will!! I love changing it up!
