Good Report

I had my 16 week appointment today with the Obstetrician.

It was the fastest appointment I’ve had with him yet, and I’m not complaining about that. I didn’t feel rushed or pushed out or hurried or anything.

There was really nothing to talk about.

I was a little bit early for the appointment, and so I sat in the car and tried to calm myself down. I wasn’t really freakin’ out, but felt just a little bit stressed. I’ve mentioned that I think I can feel the baby starting to move, but that in it’self is bit stressful, ’cause when I th ink I should be able to feel it, – I don’t, usually; and when I’m not really paying any attention, that’s when I seem to feel it the most. That’s beside the point, but I’m pretty sure I’m feeling the baby, and so that makes the appointment a little less stressful. Mind you, I still have the stupid thoughts that maybe I’m just imagining the little bumps, and something went wrong. It’s not that I really belive that, but again…….VERY WEIRD HEAD TRIP this whole experience is.

So, I felt WAY better going into this appointment, but I could feel my pulse racing – so I tried to calm down, but no such luck……I showed up at the office, peed in a cup – Oh Funny story, the nurse says to me to go ahead and fill up the cup that is on the counter. I go in to the bathroom, sit down on the toilet, and as I’m almost finished my business – it hits me, “I think I was supposed to be doing something other than just peeing. OH MY GOODNESS! I hope I have enough left to put in the cup.” I can’t believe that somehow between walking into the restroom, and sitting down I TOTALLY FORGOT why I was there.”

The whole “pregnancy brain” thing seems to have hit hard. I’m messed a few things up lately, fortunately not beyond repair, but still……that’s just not like me.

So, I showed up at the office, peed in the cup, sat for like 1 minute waiting for the Dr. He came in and asked in there was anything I needed to report. Nope, nothing out of the ordinary! Hoped up on the table, he took my blood pressure, it was great, but pulse was racing. Laid down, he measured my bump (all good), turned on the ultrasound machine, and right away we saw the baby moving around. It wasn’t flailing around wildly, but still moving. We saw the brain, the spine, the legs and feet (it had them crossed at the ankles) the arms and hands with 4 litle fingers (couldn’t see the thumb, must’ve had it tucked inside the first), the heart beating…..the doctor said he even thought he saw the mouth opening and closing.

It was very cool, and so reassuring! I’m so gald that I’m getting a little extra special treatment with this pregnancy. It makes it easier to deal with the stress and pressure.

That was it. He asked about my BIG ULTRASOUND appointment, and I have that booked for Friday March 9th. He wanted to see me a week later, so my next appointment with him is in 3 weeks. I have a different appointment every week for the next couple of weeks. There was this week, and then next week I have an appointment with my Naturopath, the week after is the U/S and then I have an appointment with Dr. Shone again. That’s okay, ’cause it’ll make the weeks go by faster, and then before I know it – I’ll be half way there. YAAAAAAHHH!

So, a very good report, a good Dr.’s appointment, and a great way to start the day.

Oh I can definitely relate to forgetting to peeing in the cup….except I had nothing left. I was trying to drink water out of the tap to go again, but no such luck. I embarrassingly brought back an empty cup. I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one.

PS: We are all soooo excited for you!! You look fantastic.
