First Day Back at School
This was the sight that we were treated to yesterday afternoon. The picture does it NO JUSTICE, of course, but I just had to include it, ’cause it was just so darn pretty, and after all the crappy weather that we’ve had - I just needed something cheery to brighten up my day.
Today, TODAY WAS GORGEOUS! Absolutely unbelievable. The sun was shining, and the car was hot enough that I needed to roll down the windows. I even just wore my shirt around town today. Well, I mean, I was dressed - pants and shoes included - but didn’t have to wear a coat or even a sweater. It was amazing. We so need some nice happy days, but Geli came home from school today and said that her teacher said that it was supposed to start raining again. That so sucks! I really hope she’s wrong…..I could sure use a few nice days to dry out and feel cheery again.
I just had to stop typing so I could see if my stomach was moving. I was sitting here and our sweet boy started to kick. I wondered if it was strong enough to see, and as a matter of fact it was. Just the tiniest little movements, and if you were sitting next to me, you probably wouldn’t have noticed unless I pointed it out, but still…….I can’t get over the wonder of it all. I am enthralled every time he moves or kicks. I actually felt the swoosh of a movement across my stomach two nights ago in the middle of the night. That was a first with this pregnancy. Until then, well and even since, I’ve only felt kicks and taps.
Anyhow, so it was the first day back at school, and our 4th day on Jeremy’s sweet eating plan. It’s been interesting. I’ve not had too much trouble yet, but then we’ve only just started. I talked to J’s teachers about what we’re doing, and I think that they will work with us.
It’s mostly the impulsiveness that gets him in trouble. Well that, and the fact that it’s really hard to get him to sit still for any length of time. Oh well! School is over for the day. Now it’s homework, dinner and bed time. The countdown has begun.
Over the weekend, we hooked up with some people that we used to go to church with in Vancouver. She found me while blog rolling, and contacted me. It was pretty neat to see them and their kids, and to hear about what’s happening in their lives. Funny thing is, they live a few hours away from here, and friends of ours from Abbotsford moved up to their town to be the Pastor’s of the church that they go to. Talk about 6 degrees of separation….I don’t even think it’s that many in this case.
The part the I was overwhelmed with was that she brought a TON of stuff with her. There were cloth diapers (which she had talked to me about before) but she brought a whole bunch of other stuff with her as well. There was basically a package of newborn disposables, about 3 boxes worth of Nursing Pads, a container of Baby Soap, a container of Pregnancy Stretch Mark Cream, and a container of Post Natal Firming Cream. It is in sample form, but seriously, who cares. I felt so blessed. It was so amazing to be getting something given to me for our sweet little boy, especially after finding out the sex, and feeling like this was so much more real. I am truly thankful! Thank you so much, R. You have blessed me far beyond what I can adequately say here in words.
I was sorting through the diapers today, and there are 7 smaller diapers that will work for when the baby is small. Obviously that’s a completely stupid comment, but hey I’m allowed the odd one of those, aren’t I? They say something like “5 to 15 pounds” or “8 to 15 pounds”…something like that. They are so cute.
These are the bigger ones, that will obviously fit him when he’s bigger…..just had to throw that one in there to match the comment from above. They say that they are sized to fit from 15-25 pounds and there are about 10 of those.
I still need to pick up some liners and covers, and get a few more of each size, but I’m getting closer to being able to cloth diaper this baby almost exclusively. I say exclusively because I’m not sure if I will cloth diaper when we are out and about and running around. I will see how it works out. I am thinking/hoping that the cloth diapering will be cheaper than using disposables and so don’t want to end up using a ton of disposables, but a few once in a while shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
Oh well! I’m still just so excited that I got something for the baby. It’s just another step down this long and sometimes difficult road.
