Tired, but still plugging away at it all

I went to my sister’s house today. Actually I went to my sister’s old basement suite today to help her clean. My brother-in-law has built them a brand new house – maybe building a brand new house would be more accurate – and she needed some help to clean out the old place. I had a meeting first thing this morning, and was going to head out right after that.

Let me back up for a second. When I crawled out of bed this morning, and headed out to see what the monkeys were doing, I figured it was just going to be another rainy spring morning. BOY WAS I WRONG? “It’s snowing!” Jeremy pipes up from where he is crouched over a heating vent in the TV room watching whatever crap they think that I don’t know they are watching. After his extremely lame attempts at about a billion April Fools joke’s yesterday, I brushed him off, and threw out a, “Yah right!” Nope, He was serious! I looked outside my kitchen windows, and it was snowing, and not just the tiny little barely snow flakes either. It was thick fluffy snow that was sticking to the ground and the trees and my van and EVERYTHING!

Great! And I was so looking forward to another nice day of rain.

We got the kids off to school, I went to my meeting, and at 10am I started off to Debbie’s in Langley. It should have taken me about 20 minutes, maybe half an hour with traffic.

I showed up at her house at 11:45pm.

While I was flying along the highway, the traffic stopped. Not slowed down…it completely stopped! I was right at an exit, but had been paying no attention to where I was so I didn’t know if it was the exit that would work for me, or if it was one too soon. I took it thinking it was the one that I could take, and nope it was one too soon. Gotta love how that happens. I figured that the reason traffic was stopped was because there was an accident as a result of the snow, and either there was a fender bender, or someone was off the road and in the ditch. I called Jon, and he said that I could take 264th, and either turn on 72 St or 88 St. Either would dump me onto 232 St. WRONG! I took 72nd, and ended up WAY OUT in farm land, where my cell phone wouldn’t even work, and ended up headed down this HUGE hill. Remember it’s snowing, and these are back country roads, that no one uses so the snow has piled up…..well, the slush has piled up. I made it safely down the the hill, and then saw the other side of it. There was an up hill I’d have to make it up to be able to keep going. Problem was that some stupid car was stuck on the hill, and I think that if I’d had the opportunity to just keep going momentum would have carried me along. I ended up stuck behind this older lady, and when she finally got out of the way I attempted the hill. No such luck! the reason I think it would have been possible is that some little car made it, and the guy helping the older lady said that he didn’t really have good tires on. they were about as good as mine. So, He helped me get turned around, and I went back down that hill, and back up the first hill. I got stuck about 10 feet from the top of the hill. After a few minutes of trying, a truck stopped, and an old guy got out, and helped me to get the rest of the way up. Seriously though, I could have been in an accident a few times today. It was pretty scary!

I finally made it to Deb’s, and we worked hard the whole rest of the day. I felt bad, ’cause I had to leave before it was completely finished. She just had the kitchen left to do, but still….there was a fair amount left. Oh well! Much as I hate cleaning, it was so nice to spend half a day with my sister. We talked about everything and nothing and a bit more.

Now I’m REALLY TIRED. I don’t do that much bending and stretching and I think I’ll be paying for it tomorrow when severely overused muscles are freaking out on me. I really should do a few more things tonight, and then I can do nothing clean my own house tomorrow. BUT, I’m not going to. I’m drinking a smoothy, which is making me freezing cold, and I’m going to heat up my warm bag, and then crawl into bed with a good book and either fall asleep, or else watch the Bachelor when it comes on at 10pm. Which ever happens first………
