Moving a Comment – Prayer and Fasting for Chris

This came in as a comment, but I figured it was worth moving up to being a post of it’s own. Thanks Randy.

Hi guys it’s me again…. (your aunty Sherry’s brother in Castlegar). I believe that “something good is going to happen, something good is in store!!”…. when we pray!!!! I had a dream last night and at first i did not know what it meant but throughout this day (and after reading your update today on Chris’s arm)…it has become clear. Without going into all the details i felt the Holy Spirit urging me to send this email and call on the Body to come together… to fast and pray…. around the clock!! I want to help coordinate a 24 hour prayer and fast vigil.(to go till Friday… and beyond!!) I will make my email available so that everybody that wants to email me and fill a slot… we will be praying through to Friday non stop! So if you all are reading this please email me so that i can slot you in to a spot and know that wherever you are around the world the Body is praying… I know you already are but it would be nice to know for sure that every moment is accounted for. Please email randaldr@telus.net ( or call 1-250-365-5403) and let me know where you are and when you can pray.

God Bless you Chris and Nina and family!!

You don’t know me and I don’t know your family or even Chris. My husband and I are friends of Matt and Carissa Kennedy and used to attend Northside Church.
I have been following your updates and feel moved to send a note. My family has been praying for Chris as have so many others. I am amazed by Gods mysterious acts as he has touched so many people’s lives with Chris’ story.

I wanted to share with you that 3 years ago my brother-in-law was in a terrible accident to. The more I read about Chris, I know that Adam’s situation was not quite as extensive but was terrifying for the family all the same. He almost lost his leg and really should’ve. BUT, our family was blessed with countless prayers for him and he was cared for by very skilled doctors, who we believe were truly guided by God in all their decisions.

Nina sounds like she is an unbelievable woman of strength as is my sister. I was constantly amazed by how my sister was able to take on and tackle every obstacle put in their paths during such a difficult time. They have had a long road to recovery but with God’s grace they have managed to come out of it on top. I’m sure that Chris and Nina will be able to do the same.

Please pass on to your family that if we could share anything from our experience that you should never give up. Never lose faith in what God’s plan is for your life and for your family. Even in the 11th hour, He will continue to surprise and amaze, you never know – perhaps the right Doctor will get a chance to look at Chris’ case and fight to save his arm. We will continue to pray for Chris. Also, my sister has offered to help in any way she can. She learnt a lot about how to deal with Doctor’s and hospitals and is full of useful knowledge. Feel free to email me back if we (she) can be of any help.

To all who care about this special young man,
So why should you email and join a list of those praying? I know you are already praying. I believe that the woman who suffered for 12 years with her illness pressed in to touch the hem of Jesus garment, she made a physical effort, went out of her way to demonstrate her faith and was accountable to what she had done. I believe likewise that our prayers while many are persistent need more. The Word says “that the prayers of a righteous man availeth much”. What is prayer if it doesn’t cost us anything? Do we give up any sleep? Food? If we merely pray while on our way to work? or just in passing or whatever…. are these the prayers of a righteous man?…. Do we exhibit the same determination in our prayer life as the woman described in the gospels with the ‘issue of blood’? Are we pressing in… going out of our way to dedicate times of Faith in prayer? We need to be accountable to one another… even though you are already praying…. email me so that i can ensure that throughout the coming night every moment is filled with the prayers of righteous men and women and children!! I encourage all of us to evaluate these questions… who knows but the Lord…. this tragedy may be the beginning of a new prayer life for all of us. We may owe Chris more than we will ever know by the way that we come together to pray from this point forward in our lives. I believe that God is speaking to each of us in a powerful way!! Are you listening? I know you are moved by this terrible tragedy…. Let us pray!!!!!

All Haukka families near and far are praying for Chris, Nina and the Kennedy’s. God is Omnipotent and Almighty! Our faith is in him and him alone. His will is perfect and his will is to heal.

I want to thank everyone for their expression of faith and their prayers.
