Mom’s Update From Today regarding Chris Kennedy

Mark and I skipped church this morning.. we were very tired and needed to be able to just sleep as long as we could then get up and when we were ready go to be with Chris. It was nice. Chris had a good night they said. He slept well until about 4am then slept an hour at a time after that with wakeful times between.
About Noon he actually woke up … He was doing really good.  He was trying to communicate…They were trying to figure out what he wanted. Anna and Dave (Nina’s Sister and Brother-in-law) came in and Dad asked if he recognized who they were.. he nodded. He squeezed Anna’s hand. He was trying to tell them something. Dad asked if he had to go to the washroom and he nodded.. He was trying to get up.. He was pointing down the hall… … Dad told him that he couldn’t get up… that He should ‘go’ in the bed… The nurse said he could get him a bed pan.  So Dad and  Anna and her husband left him with the nurses.…..  During this time Jyrki, Marja, Nina and Jackie came.
They went back in. He was trying to tell them something else… Chris was getting frustrated . He was trtying hard and no one could tell what he wanted…It is like 20 questions. He can only answer yes and no, by blinking or hand signals. Several times when we guessed and got it right   He would nod a yes. Nina asked ,’Do you want to write?’  He nodded. Nina got a book and pen. He tried to draw something and Nina asked if he wanted to see what He drew, … He wrinkled his mouth into a laugh and kind of ‘huffed’ and shook his head….He tried again and this time tried to print,… he got the letters all on top of each other… but it looked like bedpan.  I guess at this point it really doesn’t matter… but he was trying and that was exciting… but very frustrating for Chris… He threw the pen a couple of times but it was encouraging because He adjusted the pen correctly and then did actually form some letters.  He would hold our hands and then brush them off… When he was getting agitated, they asked if he was in pain. He nodded.  They ask on a scale of 1 to 5 to rate the pain in his arm… He held up 5 fingers… Then the nurse asked about his leg..Chris indicated 3 then he circled his hand all over and they ask if he wanted something for pain and he nodded. They gave him more pain killer and then he rested.
Just a note.. some of us had not ‘heard’ some how that He had several broken ribs on the right side, same side as the contusion on his brain,  and also a broken sternum. Seems that they are healing, as the  lungs, and the infection in  the left arm and  left leg and foot seem to be the focus….at this time..
They are trying to wean him off the Sedatives They are trying to keep him more alert. He really was there and trying to tell us something.
He was supposed to go for another scan of His chest and his lungs… It was scheduled for around 2 but was bumped for some other emergency. (We understand the being bumped, even though it is frustrating, as when Chris needed it they did it for us.)We just pray that God will open up the times needed for Chris also. We continue to stand and eradicate the infection with the Word and power of God…and the wisdom He has given the Doctors .. With this gone, the temp will drop it will make for easier breathing and they can begin the reconstructive surgery sooner.  He is still in the ICU UNIT. We left around 2:30.

    I was there around 6-7:30PM.
Chris slept most of the time.
I just sat with him, prayed, sang, told ridiculous stories,
talked to Steve (the day nurse), and met Jennifer(his evening nurse).
He had a fever and his heart rate was mostly around 100 (low98 – hight 112).
Towards 7:30PM he seemed to be waking up and was moving his right arm around.
We just continue to pray Shalom for Chris. Nothing Missing. Nothing Broken.
I like Dan’s idea of writing to Chris…

    CJ,
It sucks that you are going through this.
I pray that you sense God’s love and protection and that you rest in Him.
We would do anything to change this, but God is bigger than anything we are,
So we lean on Him and trust that He is caring for you in ways that we can’t.
You are so loved. You have an amazing wife. She really has been such a rock.
I think of all the love we have for you and to know that’s God’s love
surpasses even that, is truly mind-blowing.
    All our love,
    Denver and Debbie

For with GOD nothing shall be impossible.

We are praying and joining our faith with yours for a complete recovery for Chris.

I would just like to share this with you:
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater:
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
God’s word is alive and powerful!!!!

We love you all and are holding each and everyone of you close to our hearts and in our prayers.

Be still and know that HE is GOD!!!!

    All our love,

    The Davissons.

    Hey Chris,
Just wanted to update you on our special service yesterday in our church here in Castlegar. I spoke on ‘His Peace’. Without going into the whole sermon it focused on Philippians 4:8…. that whatsoever is pure, lovely, praiseworthy, good things…. we are to occupy our minds with this. It actually is describing Christ! The enemy want our minds to be occupied with negative, frustrated, worried thoughts…. We are reminded that if we think on the these things that Paul has laid out in 4:8 then!!!! in vs. 9 it says…”the God of Peace will be with us”. You see that is something that can be done totally with your mind…. so while you are not able to move that much… “for just a little while”… occupy your mind with the positive.Christ and His love for you…. your wonderful wife standing there by your side… your parents who no doubt feel your every pain… all your incredible family…. and friends.
At the end of the service we had a young married couple come forward and stand in your’s and Nina’s place. We gathered the elders around, then the rest of the church gathered around them and we anointed the couple with oil and PRAYED!!! Halleluyah!! It was glorious!! We prayed for yours and Ninas continued healing! So hang in there! Stay strong!!
    We continue to pray.

Hello Kennedys…I’m so glad to hear Chris is back in Vancouver and that he’s recovering so well. CJ is truly blessed to have all of you in his life – it’s incredible to see such a loving family in action. Patti and Karen, it was wonderful to see you in Kamloops, though under strange conditions. We continue to add our prayers to yours in asking our Almighty Father for a full recovery!

    Blessings.
