Chris Kennedy Update Saturday May 5th, 2007

Just talked to my Dad about an hour or so ago.

They’ve been in with Chris off and on today.

Today was a much better day than yesterday.  Where Chris seemed to be so tired and worn out from the trauma of yesterday, he was much more alert and communicative today.

He, apparently, didn’t sleep to well from about 3am this morning, and when Mom and Dad showed up around 10 – 10:30am, he was just resting.  They left him to sleep, and when he did wake up, he was responding, and wanting to write messages to communicate.  He was moving all his limbs around quite a bit, and even wanted to get up at one point.

The doctor’s hadn’t mentioned if they had found any possible source of the infection, but where Chris’s temps, yesterday, were up around 40 degrees; they had come down into the 38′s today.

The Plastic Surgeon came in, and Chris was awake to listen to to what he had to say, and communicated a few questions that he had.

This is such a positive response compared to yesterday.

They are wanting to take him into surgery again soon to work on the reconstruction of his arm.

So, we need prayers that Chris’s body would be strong, and that the infection would be gone from his body.  That he would be able to handle the surgery so he can start to heal up from that.

Another thing to be praying for is that Chris and Nina’s Spirits would stay encouraged and strengthened throughout this journey that they are on.

If/when I hear anything else, I’ll keep you updated!

Thanks for all your prayers!  We believe that your faith added to ours is making a difference in the outcome of all of this.  We stand believing for an amazing testimony of God’s healing power and mercy in both Chris and Nina’s lives.

It was such a blessing to see Chris with his eyes open and to say “it’s aunty sherry sweetheart”..and to see him smile and nod his head like “I know it’s aunty sherry , i’m not an idiot”…he indicated he was in no pain at all but just wanted to get up..and was frustrated that he couldn’t’..thank you Lord, that with each day Chris renews his strength and we, along with him. stand on Your promises..of healing, of peace, of protection. I pray that if he goes into surgery tomorrow, You lift him up in body and spirit, and that IN JESUS NAME, his blood pressure and oxygen will REMAIN STABLE and the doctors will be able to do what they need to do, on his arm and leg. Thank you dear Father, for Your Faithfullness. xo

So I went in to see Chris this evening around 6:30PM.
Nina was there and Mom and Dad.
Marja and Jerke came in, too.
He’s seems to being doing amazing from the last time I saw him.
I hadn’t seen him for a whole week.

Apparently earlier in the day, he communicated to Nina that he wanted her to ask him questions,
She asked him, do you know who I am?, He touched his ring finger.
She asked him, Are you OK?, He nodded his head yes
She asked him, Are you in pain, He shook his head no
She asked him, do you love me?, He wrote on the piece of paper, “sooo much”
    Cute, huh!
Then she asked if he liked her dress, he nodded yes.

When I went into see him he was tapping my wrist and Nina and I couldn’t figure out what he meant.
Then he would tap his own left wrist.
We though maybe we wanted his hand moved.
This went on for a while and he was getting frustrated,
He asked for the nurse, She came over and he did the same,
Then he started to mouth the words.
We finally figured out he was aking what time it was?
He did that a few more times throughout the night.

He gets frustrated when we can’t understand what he’s writing and then throws the pen.
The last time he asked to write, just before we left, I asked him,
“are you going to throw it?” He shook his head, “no”
    I asked, “you promise?”
    He nodded, “Yes”
I gave it to him and I couldn’t understand
(we think it said something about Debbie…Sister…and then we were lost)
He moved his hand as to throw and I grabbed the pen and his hand and said,
“you promised” and slid it out of his hand.
I can’t imagine how frustrated he must be.
Please pray for peace for his mind and clarity and wisdom for all of us
so communicating is not such a burden for Chris.
I don’t mind the guessing game, but I’m not the one
who’s probably screaming inside trying to be understood.

When we left the RN, Sebastien, was going to give Chris a sleeping pill
to help him relax through the night.

So Chris we pray peace over you tonight as you sleep.
Peace for you mind, your body, and your spirit.
    We love you. Always.
Shalom to you- Nothing missing, nothing broken.

I called in to the hospital at 7 am and they seem to think that everything is looking good for the surgery to happen. they had not any word on it from OR YET.. But this is GOD”S CASE so we will trust in Him and not be afraid. God bless.

Chris went into the O.R. around 830…”Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for HIs wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness” Psalm 107:8,9 And we join together right now Lord, and praise you for the work you are doing in all our lives, and specifically RIGHT NOW, in that operating room, the work you are doing in Chris’s body…We pray for the peace of your Holy Spirit to be in Nina and Karen and Mark and all those that lift up this loved one to You…Thankyou for the supernatural strength that is filling Chris’s body and keeping all his vital signs stable and for Your hand that guides the surgeon and anaesthetist’s hand right now… and we give You all the praise for You are AN AWESOME GOD!! Amen

  6. Lise:

Chris continues to be in our thoughts and prayers. We will continue to lift up Chris’ body and we will pray especially right now for his mind. I know how it feels to have a body that doesn’t respond the way it used to and the feeling of injustice through it all. However, I also know the power of peace that our God gives us in times of trouble. For me, to know a God that is interested in something as insignificant as the comings and goings of a sparrow is reassuring because I know that we are so much more pressious. If our God knows the number of hairs on Chris’ head I know that he cares about all the emotions Chris is dealing with right now. God knows every aspect of Chris’ body soul and mind and he will supply ALL his neeeds. He has for us. He has supplied all our needs from the financial to the physical to the mental. Our God is good.

  7. Lise:

if you didn’t figure it out already the last comment was from Jason, not me! but I agree with him!!

  8. aunty sherry:

I called into the O.R. around 1200 and the plastic surgeon was able to come to the phone..they were just finishing up on Chris’s arm!! I was able to get ahold of Nina who was waiting at the hospital for that good report.. Praise the Lord..I had spoken to the anesthetist earlier(who happened to be the first one in the room to assist on Friday when Chris went so unstable) so I was thankful to know that God had placed someone there who was aware of Chris’s history and someone more than capable and so considerate. I am so thankful that God has heard our prayers and Chris has made it through this first stage successfully! God is SO good…I am thankful for the care and thoughtfulness shown by all who were in that operating room Friday, and today. And to my colleagues in the recovery room who have allowed me so much latitude…thankyou Lord, for family and friends.

  9. Debbie:

    Hi, Momma and Debbie here.
We are in the hospital and Chris is getting his whatever they call it when the nurse has to do her stuff for about an hour. The plastic surgen said the surgery went really well. Denver and I saw Chris briefly around 2:15PM, he was very tired. Mom, Dad, and Nina were here all morning and saw Chris after his surgery. He was sleeping. When Denver and I saw him, the nurse said she would be waking him up to move him around so we could talk to him. He opened his eyes for a moment. We asked him if he was OK, he nodded yes. Then we just told him that his surgery went really well. We’ll be able to see him around 3:45PM. Thank you for praying. We’re continuing to pray because the next few days will be important. They will be monitoring the arm closly for 5 days and in around a week they will opperate some more on his arm. Pray for the blood vessels that they sewed together not to clot so blood flow to the muscle will continue.
God bless, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
    Momma says, “PTL”
    (Praise the Lord)
    Love, Momma and Debbie

  10. Ernie Culley:

Our church was continuing in prayer for Chris today. We went to God on at least 3 occasions corporately. There was an awesome presence of God in the room as we prayed, and held Chris, Nina, and the whole family before the Lord who is the healer. We are hugely gratified, but not surprised at the progress that Chris is making. Thanks everyone for posting on this blog. It is awesome how many people around the world are connecting at the point of prayer for Chris. I guess he never thought he would be a uniting point for the Body of Chirst around the world, but that is what he has become. We continue to pray.
