Update on Chris Kennedy

Chris has had a couple of hard days recently.

As I said in th last post, I don’t think he is having nightmares.  I think that any of those type of issues are a result of the different drugs they were giving him to settle him down.

The biggest issue seems to be his pain levels, and it seems like maybe the Drs and nurses are starting to listen to us, and him, and maybe to believe what he and we are saying.

He did pull his feeding tube out yesterday which was not a good thing, ’cause that is how they give him medicine, and so he was without good and easy access to pain meds for quite a bit of the day.

They are having a pain management specialist go in and see to, and that will dramatically help out with adjusting his meds so that he is the most comfortable.

Some good news, is about his left foot.  From what we understood, the bones in his foot were basically crushed almost into powder.  Well, they x-rayed him with a portable machine at his bedside, and said that his foot was looking really good, and that they might not even need to do anything on his foot at all.  This is one of the miracles that we’ve been praying for.  Yah God!

ONe good thing about him pulling out his tube yesterday, and not being drugged out of it, is that he was communicating quite a bit.  Obviously he was in terrible amounts of pain, and as family it is so hard to see him hurting, but he was able to communicate about what levels the pain were 5 out of 5, or 3 out of 5, etc; and where he was hurting.

It’s so good that he is communicating, because I don’t feel that the staff understood just how much he can communicate.  It’s a little hard to be responsive when you are drugged into oblivion.  So, the pain was bad, but the communication was good.

Chris was also indicating that he was hungry (he wasn’t able to eat for most of the day ’cause the tube had been pulled out), all these things are good signs.

It’s just hard overall because of the pain.

The doctor overseeing his case, the plastics resident, and the socail worker met with Nina, Dad and Mom, Jurki and Marja, and Aunty Sherry yesterday to talk about Chris and where he’s at, and to listen to some of the concerns that we have.  Overall it was a really good meeting, and we are continuing and praying and expecting to see God’s hand revealed in everything regarding Chris’s situation.

So, some things that we rejoice about:

  1. The pneumonia in Chris’s lungs seems to be gone.
  2. His foot is looking like they won’t need to do anything to do.
  3. The Doctor’s are working on a good pain management system.
  4. Chris is communicating more, and the staff are able to see him as more of a person and not just a faceless patient in a bed.

Some things we’d love prayer regarding:

  1. God would heal Chris quickly and do miracles in his body
  2. That Chris would be able to settle and rest and that the pain wouldn’t overwhelm him
  3. That Chris’s arm and leg would be totally healed
  4. The God would work on His Kingdom schedule and not man’s schedule
  5. That we would be able to effectively understand and communicate with Chris.
  6. That the medical staff would find a real heart for Chris and for his care.
  7. That He would sleep well and peaceful at nights.
  8. Pray for Nina that she would be 100% HEALED
  9. Pray for Nina and the family that they would be strengthened and safe as they drive in and out of Vancouver

Thanks again!  You are such a blessing.  I know I keep saying that, but I really mean it, and don’t feel like I enough words to adequately expres just how thankful we are that you are standing with us believing for MIGHTY MIRACLES in Chris’s life.

  1. Mom C:

    PRAISE GOD!
We prayed that God would do a miracle and restore the bones in Chris’ left foot and that is what he did.
Thanks You Jesus! What a testimony of God’s love and goodness.
I look forward to Chris being completely healed!
NO PAIN! No left over problems.
    We love you Chris.
