I’m sorry! I’m late with an update!
I’ve had “life” happeing to me. Imagine that, eh? No worries, I’ll be good after noon today - I hope! It’s nothing bad, just in case you’re wondering. I’m just freaky busy.
Here is a summary from Momma about yesterday, and I’ll try to get back and update again later on today.
Tuesday night He slept very well but was awake at 3amthen slept again. They re-adjusted his medication and he got some much needed rest and Yesterday he was ’very pleasant’. Meaning much better than before. I think the visit he got in the night last night, from a nurse who had been his nurse a few days ago…..was a gift from God.
She took time during her break in the middle of the night to stop and talk with him. She said it was a nice chat and He was so much more clear and calm. He was so polite and wrote to her.. “thank you” and “you are a good friend, thank you for talking to me” She took her own break time to explain to him he was in the hospital and needed to leave his tubes alone. He said he was just sooo much more restful…. He told her he thought it was the drugs but she told him they were still giving him the drugs but that he was clearing on his own.
It has been really helpful and she could see such a change in him….She was so excited about it .
God bless her and thank you Jesus for sending her to Chris at this time. Another answer to prayer.
We went back again and were able to spend maybe 15 minutes with him, when the people who were going to down size his trach came in and asked us to leave again ( for another half hour)….We told Chris we would still be around. He breathed really hard and out came a definite “THANK YOU” ( They told us with the down sized trach he will be able to speak more.) It was very exciting
He also slept a lot today… we were there most of the day… but only got to see him a little. They did some tests on his right leg to see what is happening with his muscles… The results were that his muscles in that leg seem to all be functional from the way they responded… but the test was very exhausting and he slept more after that. The nurse said he had probably had all he could take and was using all his energy to rest now. We were happy just to sit beside him and watch him sleep. The nurses at the station all commented on how calm he was today and even yesterday.. even though he had had scans yesterday and x-rays He just was so much more pleasant…. Until he was exhausted then he seemed to get a little irritated. But was able to sleep more. He is scheduled for surgery tomorrow but this is not definite yet….. We will keep you posted

Today May 16 5-7 pm Marja and I went to see Chris it’s been a while since we saw him awake. I must say ,to us there was a big diffrence since the last time we saw him. Karen asked Chris if he knew our names, He said with a squeaky voice thru the treck tube Jyrki and Marja. Karen asked do you know who they are,Chris said he is the mouse trapper. I thought man he is so out of it, But then I remembered that Chris and I had a private secret,we had trapped some mice afew years ago in our shed and told no one about it, especially Marja. Well he kind of let the cat out of the bag. I had to laugh and at the same time I felt so good to see that he is doing so well. Most of our communication was thru Chris writing,it was actually pretty easy to read. We spent about 2 hours with him and he went none stop asking a ton of questions. Marja and I left Chris’s bed side with a big burden off of our hearts. Our Father in Heaven has and is doing his work in Chris’s life. Chris should be going into more surgery tomorrow. Lets pray that it all goes Great and that he will continue to strengthen day by day.
