Chris Kennedy Update Tuesday May 22, 2007

Chris had just been put back to bed when I arrived. He had been up in the chair again. The physiotherapist was there. She said he was doing so well. He is so sweet she told me. He tries so hard and is so polite. He is always thanking them for everything they do. He was really tired. They had just put in the movie Dumb and Dumber.. He told me “ These guys are idiots.

His nurse told me Chris had shaved himself this morning. He did a good job.  It is another step on the road to complete recovery. He didn’t think it was all that impressive… but I sure did.

He had a swallow test today. The results showed that he needs a little longer before he can eat or drink without the tube.  Some of the dye got into his wind pipe and that is the test .. if nothing shows up in the trach, then he is good to go as far as starting to eat and drink.  The respiratory people said they were thinking to change the trach to a different one that will give him more room to swallow.

Chris is looking at more surgery on Friday, if everything goes according to ‘plan’   (God knows the plans He has for Chris… plans for a future and plans for success plans for a hope and not to harm him.)  When they go to work on the arm they are also do the trach they said.

Chris was sounding very weak today again… All the things they are getting him to do just wear him out.  He tries so hard to keep stretching and working out the muscles that will move.   He was pretty funny a few time today.  The nurse was so good to him and he really enjoyed her.

Chris and I prayed a lots today.  At one point he asked me to tell Jesus not to forget his arm needed help too.  I told him to pray and he did.  We thanked God today for another day to live and another day to love, a day to get better and stronger. He prayed for Nina today also. Her prayed for Jesus to heal both Nina and Chris. When his knee was hurting he would say to pray and I put my hands on his knee and He would pray.

Just as I was leaving the nurse took his temperature and it was a bit high…
please agree with me that there will be no more infection in his body and that the donor site will clear up and heal the way it is supposed to.

Please agree with us that God’s power is working in Christopher’s body  and give Him thanks a praise for the good things He has already done and for what is about to appear.

It has been almost 2 weeks since I was home to visit my family and saw Chris in the hospital. During the past 2 weeks i haven’t had internet and have been going crazy not being able to check the blog. I sit here today with tears in my eyes and absolute wonder and awe for our God almighty. The miracles in Chris’ life are absolutely supernatural - to read the progress in one big chunk: from 2 weeks ago then all of a sudden today, is incredible. He doesn’t even sound like the same man; I have a hard time fathoming him simply speaking, writing clearly, or thinking coherently, yet praise God for this awesome testimony.

Family, I love you. You are all so amazing and radiate with the servant-heart love of our Jesus. Chris, I’m so proud of you. Keep going strong, maybe I could see you for our birthday buddy!

I think you may remember Terry and I, but it’s been a very long time. We have two boys, Chad and Justin, and lived in Vancouver for about 10 years back in the 80’s. We are now in Kelowna and enjoying being close to family once again. We have heard the news about Chris and I have spent the last couple of hours reading the various prayer requests and updates of his health. Our prayers are with you, Chris, and I know that God is a healing God. What doctors cannot do, God does. Our son had a serious motorcycle accident a few years ago and just about lost his leg, but God came through and answered prayer in numerous miraculous ways. We are believing God for a full recovery for you, Chris. God bless you and your family as you walk through some trying days. May the Lord give you strength and may you sense His peace through all of this. I must also add that I have also spent the last few hours looking at all the pictures of the family on this site. Patty, they are awesome! I recognize some faces and not others. How you all have grown into such fine young men and women! Well, God bless you all. I just wanted to say hi and let you know that we are praying for Chris and believeing God for the miraculous. I love how God does things ’suddenly’. When we don’t understand, God just does. When times are uncertain, we know He is there and He covers us with His wings. Within His shelter we can find so much peace that mercy and grace are all that we need. I wrote a song not long ago and part of it went like this… So go forth in faith, raise your banner high, let faith flow from your lips, it’s the Word of God that is as a sword cutting through the enemy’s camp…and suddently…you’ll step back and see the rescue He will perform. It’s for you and your family, take it, believe it, He’s defeated Him a long time ago. God bless you!

I have had the past 2 days off and I have missed seeing you and your momma…I gave Alanna your note and she was amazed you could write so well..she wants you to know her soccer team came first in the Fraser Valley division and she was inspired by you…she appreciates what you wrote about being in the provincials next week and that she hopes to come and see you after that.
You have always inspired young people Chris, with your commitment and abilities, and you continue to do so by the strength and determination you display even from a hospital bed. “As the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him and reflect His glory..”
I am so thankful that Chris is here with us, an absolute testimony to our God’s awesome power. Thankyou Lord, for Your Spirit that shines through Chris and touches all those that come in contact with him. Thankyou for continued healing of body, mind and spirit.
