Momma’s Update from Saturday May 26th, 2007

Father, We thank you for another wonderful day.
Another day to live
Another day to love.

Another day to get stronger
Another day to get better.

Another day to give You Praise
For all You have done for us.

This morning early I got a phone call from our daughter Debbie, she had already spend time with Chris this morning. God is so good. I knew that it would be a time when he would need someone around to encourage him and just as I was wondering about it…..I get the phone call saying she had been there. Praise the Lord.  He really has all the bases covered… before we even call He answers.

Chris was still disturbed this morning.  It seems after  surgery he has a harder time.  His mind is still healing from the bang,  his body healing from all the trauma it has been through… lack of sleep and the different medications needed to help with the pain from the wounds and nerve damage and anesthetic for surgery and all… it just adds up to some muddled up emotions and thoughts…..

He was trying to convince Debbie they had locked him up.  Well he is in a separated room to protect him from infection and also to keep the new flap and grafts warm. Everyone going in has to put on a gown, gloves and a facemask that make one look like a duck.  (I asked Chris what He thought of his dad in a dress ( the gown) He laughed about that.)

Debbie was able to pray with him, talked to him, and explained things. He doesn’t yet hold all the information he is given about things, so we have to keep reminding him that he is in the hospital and why things need to be done the way they are being done.  Then sometimes He does remember well and as time goes by He will remember more and more and his mind will become clearer, For the bible tells us….God has not given us  the spirit of fear but of Love and of power and of a sound mind.

When Debbie left we were not quite ready to leave Langley for the hospital  and I was feeling badly when I received a phone call from Aunty Sherry saying she had popped in and Chris was doing a little better. He had given her the big thumbs up!  He is back with a larger trach because of the surgery and writing mostly in the book. He does try to talk pass the trach and the Doctor that came in was quite surprised and told him that it must be hard to do… it was unusual for anyone to talk with it… Chris told her… “but I am up to the challenge!” She smiled at him and told him that was great.

Some how he managed to pull him feeding tube out… and this put him back for a couple of hours until a doctor could come and put it back in and give him the elephant look again. He told her…it was not a good thing that he pulled it out and he was sorry. He got a little behind on the meds and the food….. He will pull ahead again in a day or two.

When Mark and I came in looking like Donald and Daffy Duck.. he tapped the nurse and asked if there was a paying job these two could get here….  Mark was getting him to push his right leg and foot again today and his strength is coming back… Praise the Lord. From the beginning of the week when we could hardly feel any push to now when he can push it right out. He will get stronger pulling it up over the next couple of days as he gets passed the first few days after surgery. “HE IS UP TO THE CHALLENGE”  Praise the Lord.

Again today I asked him if he wanted me to read the psalms to him….. Thank you he said.  He started to cough at one point and I stopped to let Mark clean up a bit… he looks at me and waves(circles) his hand for me to keep reading and his look said… what are you stopping for, keep reading.

Nina came and He was so happy to see her.  The room is like a sauna, we told him it was like the Bahamas.  Chris has been in contact with the Mumps, and so have Nina and myself.  We had to have a blood test to confirm if we will get it or not.

We( Chris, Nina and I…well you too (if you want to be)*…) are more than conquerors and We live in the secret place of the most High God. We abide under the shadow of God Almighty. We will say of the Lord, He is our refuge. He is our fortress. He is our God, In Him we will trust.  Surely He shall deliver us from the infectious contagious diseases. His huge outstretched arms will protect us and under his wings of protection we shall trust.

His Word, His Truth shall be a shield about us. And we will not be afraid of anything, not disease, not infections, not terror, not anything that would come against us to try to cause us troubles. Even though others would succumb to it….with God’s help we are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ our Lord and we will stand victorious.

Because we have made the Lord our refuge even the Most High our place where we live in Him and He lives in us, there shall no evil come near us. For God has given his angels, who excel in strength, charge over us… they are listening diligently for the voice of His word to do it. We are giving God’s word voice as we speak it out.

There fore….because we have set our Love upon the Lord… He has said He will deliver us. He has said He will get us out of any troubles. He will give us the best of care because we know Him and His name.(Jesus) God has said for us to Call to Him and He will answer us…He told us He will be at our side in the good times and the bad times. He will rescue us out of all our troubles, the He is going to throw us a party…. (when I read this to Chris… He smiled a great big smile.) (Remember the party he threw for the prodigal son…. God loves throwing parties….)

God has promised us a long life and He has told us He will make us to enjoy all His benefits… and here  they are… He forgives all our sins! Praise the Lord! He heals all our diseases! Praise the Lord! He redeems our life from destruction! Yahoo!  He satisfies our mouths with Good things so our youth is renewed like the eagles! Praise the Lord! He crowns us with loving kindness and tender mercies.  Praise His Holy Name!  Our God is compassionate and gracious. He is slow to anger He is overflowing with Love. He does not accuse us and he does not treat us as our sins deserve …

Our God’s love is higher than the heavens are above the earth. It is so great towards those who know Him. As far as the east is from the west….that’s how far he removes our sins from us when we ask him to….. isn’t he amazing? He has compassion on those who reach out to trust Him.  He knows how we are formed and He remembers we are human…but He has promised His everlasting love to be with those who will trust Him…..to those who keep His commandments…

You know I was just reading the other day in I John where God has said… this is My commandment… that you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that you walk in love toward others…. That’s it…

Jesus was right when he said His way was easy.  It wasn’t hard.… God made it an even playing field for everyone… we only have to believe in Jesus Christ His Son and walk in Love to others…. And if we will believe in Jesus then He comes into our lives and give us his love to love others and all we need to do is just let it out…. By our actions.  And all the benefits of God are for us……Who has any thing as good as this?  No Wonder we can look and see what God is doing and rejoice as Chris walks out of this situation and shows how awesome and powerful our God is…..

Jesus said.. in this world you will have troubles… but be of good cheer for I have overcome the world.

Again tonight as Christopher is sleeping soundly.. my heart is full of thanksgiving to our Awesome God who promised to always be with us.

*(‘if you want to be’.. is really not the right thing to say… because you really are all this if you believe in Jesus Christ and if you don’t believe in Him you can it is simple  … but we can have a banquet set out just for us and still not know it is ours and that we can just help our selves.… just like we can have all these promises and not know they are ours and not know  how to help ourselves to them………. Jesus said if we believe in our heart and confess with our mouth…..that Jesus is Lord.. we shall be saved.)  How hard is that? It is true it is that easy.

Hi Karen, What a wonderful report of our God’s faithfulness. I am in agreement with you regarding Chris in Psalm 91 and still believe for a quick recovery. Yes, He is out fortress and stronghold in times of troubles, but HE Said, rejoice, for we have
overcome the world and the troubles because He has done it for us. I pray that Chris will always be encouraged in Gods’ awesome love and His power and willingness to heal him completely, nothing missing and nothing broken. God truly has redeemed Chris from the curse of the law and the blessing is upon him and in him, also Nina’s, also all of us who believe in Him.. I love you Karen, and stand with you and your family. Be encouraged and blessed, that many others are joining our faith with yours.
Love to all your family, Renata
