Here is a small update… just in case like me you are looking to see if there is anything new..It is wonderful to stay connected…….Well the need to eat and drink were short lived…. It is a lot of work swallowing when you have not done so for almost 2 months. He will be needing time to strengthen his throat (swallowing) muscles. Also his stomach is needing to take it a little easy not being used to anything but protein milk shakes for so long… It will come… now we are praying his desire for food will return and he will not feel sick everytime he tries to eat or drink something ‘new’. This will come, For sure!
Wednesday night, April 29,2007. I went in, finally declared cleared of the “MUMPS VIRUS” by Infections Controls. When I got there He now had his trach removed and is talking still more in his ‘normal’ voice…. It still sounds a little weak but he is getting stronger all the time. We are continuing to stand in faith believing for a complete recovery and restoration of his mind and memories. The new flap on his leg is healing nicely and so is his arm and the donor sites. He’s able to move his left hand and fingers… this is some most amazing good news…. He was able to open his fingers out and hold them… the muscles were very weak and he shook like crazy but it is only time and he will have good movement in his right hand, both opening and closing of it. This hand also was black with no circulation when Chris had first arrived at the hospital, 6 weeks ago. This is way more than the Doctors told us and this also is the hand on the arm the doctor had told us he figured would be non functional and needed to be removed, part of it was because of the fear for Chris life also because of how much infection there was. We are praising God and thankful for all He has done. For the hope, He gave us when there seemed to be no hope. We are thankful for the Doctor who saw passed the ‘no hope’ and gave it another chance. Every time I am with Chris he keeps saying, ‘I’m Alive’ you know… I’m Alive” We praise God….. Chris’ birthday is coming up June 17th and we are so thankful to God that He is alive and will be here to celebrate with us another day, and other year. To celebrate God’s goodness and the Life He has given to us.

  2. Owen and Lois Manuel:

Our prayer group (which Paul and Raija Liira attend) has been praying for Chris and we are pleased to receive this good report.

May the glory be the Lord’s as He heals us!!

    Love in Christ from,

  3. Rev. Thomas Scarborough:

Do you have any idea how I might get in touch with Mike Poulin? I stayed with him and the family in 1995, and it was a memorable time. With kind regards, Thomas, in Cape Town.
