Mom’s Update from Thursday May 31st and Friday June 1st

Isolation GownsThese are the gowns that we have to wear into see Chris.  Actually, this is only part of the get up that we are supposed to be wearing.  Apparently, we are supposed to have goggles and gloves on as well.  This was particularly difficult when they had the temperature in the room turned up so hot to allow for better blood flow to the newly grafted areas on his arm and leg.

Mom said that they turned the temperature down a bit either yesterday or today, which is so nice!  Here is Mom’s update from yesterday!

….It really is wonderful how faithful God is to His promises… Today Chris was doing really well.  I was with him… in the morning the physiotherapist came and talked about how well he was doing. She had him doing all kinds of stretches…

It was wonderful to see him wriggling the toes on his right foot… Just over a week ago there was no movement in those toes. He could feel us touching them but could not make them move. Two weeks ago he was struggling to get any movement in that leg. Today he had some good strength in it and she was talking about him starting to use an exercise bed board that would get him into a standing position so he could start putting weight on that leg.

She said that for now, that would be his stronger leg. She said they would have to wait until the plastic surgeons gave the word that the flap on his left leg could take the blood flow from standing and the leg being in that down position. I am not sure that is quite how she worded it but it was something like that. She had both arms and legs moving…toes and foot movement on his left foot as well.  He even was able to move his left elbow, just a little but he had motion. I watched him move his left hand up and down…turn it side to side rotating it…fingers moving, opening and closing…small beginnings but definitely good movement. Praise the Lord…  While he was doing the stretches and the exercises, he said the elbow and the knee were at times quite painful.

The mother of one of Chris’ friends was at  the hospital this morning and stopped by to peek  a hello… Chris recognized her right away and also his friend’s grandmother.  This is a good memory thing.  Praise the Lord. She was there for her own medical problem and Chris prayed for her. It is wonderful to see him coming along. She told him that seeing how Chris was doing was such a miracle and it helped her to believe more, gave her more faith to believe for her own needs.   The nurse told me that he had the bars and wires removed from his mouth last Friday when he was in surgery. Praise the Lord. Face and Jaw are healed. Another thing removed and another step toward complete recovery.  He was eating a little better today, and was able to swallow his own meds. The Doctor was in to look at the skin grafts and said they were looking beautiful to the surgeons and to those who can tell what the end result will be.  Chris says they look rather gross. But to me, with Chris having a leg and arm… they look beautiful for sure.  The nurse was saying soon he will get a stocking like thing… to wear that will help the grafts to shape like the arm….and leg… more and will help as the skin turns closer to the normal skin coloring… I remember from Mark’s Mom and Dad…they had a very tight fitting specially designed stocking type cover to help the skin heal helps with reducing scarring and  compresses the new skin

He still is minus 3 teeth…He noticed it today and was commenting on how disgusting  it must look. (I think this is another good sign his appearance is mattering to him)

He talked lots… and was sure happy to see Nina.  He told me yesterday, “I love her soooo much.”  He tells me almost every time I am there how much he loves her.  He was sleeping peacefully when I left tonight.

Friday June 1, 2007 This morning I was feeling a little discouraged so I went and talked to Father God, I said …..Just tell me…. Talk to me… I am listening…I sometimes get to thinking I cannot hear when you speak, but Lord, you said “My sheep hear My voice, I know them and they follow Me”

So I do hear when You speak and you are intimately acquainted with me, you know my coming ins and my goings about, you know when I sit and when I walk and run. You go ahead of me and prepare the path I should take. There is nothing about me that you do not know…. And what thrills me, Lord, is that your Love for me is more than my heart and mind can fathom. I will trust you and walk with you and I will follow where you lead me.

Then I got a phone call. Thank you Aunty Audrey!   It was so refreshing… The word was an encouragement to continue what God was doing in me and also there was a song  …It was AND THE GLORY OF THE LORD SHALL BE REVEALED …..AND ALL FLESH SHALL SEE IT TOGETHER…..AND THE GLORY OF THE LORD SHALL BE REVEALED….. FOR THE MOUTH OF THE LORD HAS SPOKEN IT.

It is straight from the bible….well, it lifted me up and there is a stirring in my heart…

With it being Chris’ Birthday on the 17th of June… I think we should ask the Father to give him a Birthday gift of….  Walking out of the Hospital…..by June 17th with His mind and memory healed. What do you say?

I was reading in the Book of John this morning and Jesus said if we ask anything according to His will He will do it.

Jesus said If you abide in Me and My Words abide in You, you will ask what ever you will and My Father will do it for you.

Mark 11:23 and 24 says…..Have Faith in God!  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.  Therefore I say unto you, What things so ever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive [them], and ye shall have [them].

Father God… WE stand in agreement that by June 17th we will see Chris walk out of the Hospital. You said if we ask anything according to your will you will do it.  I see in your LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT that you gave us all things that pertain to life and godliness. That you have given us Forgiveness, healing, peace, you have delivered our lives from destruction, You have crowned us with loving kindness and tender mercies…Your Love and compassion is toward us. You cause us to prosper and be successful. And so we appropriate these for and on Chris’ behalf.

We want to see Chris walk out of the hospital on or Before His birthday with his mind and memory healed, and we give you thanks and praise, and we give all the glory back to you. For You Lord Jesus are Good and Your Love lasts forever. And You delight to give your children good things.  Thank you, Jesus.
