Sunday July 29th

Today Sunday, July 29th started out to be just another day .

When we got up this morning we went to UBC to spend the day with Chris. This was the day  he was waiting for a bed in VGH as he needs surgery on his leg tomorrow. They will clean out the infection and then put in a new rod…(that is the short version of what is to happen.)   Mark and I arrived at UBC bought our day parking pass and  walked up to see Chris.  All his things were on the bed, packed to go  and Chris was no where to be found.  He is gone Mark said… and we picked everything up and took off for VGH.  I did stop to inform someone… but there was no one around…. Finally I found a care aide and told her we had taken everything…… Maybe we should Ask when he left….why? he is gone.

I text Sherry  “He’s gone were are on our way to VGH.” I said to Mark when we drove up… wouldn’t it be funny if he was in the shower or something?

We arrived at VGH and went to the six floor … no not there

Went to the seventh floor…..Well he is booked to come but he is not here yet.   So we called back to UBC.

Yes he is still here… we are waiting the ambulance…. If you call back in about 15 minutes we can tell you approx how soon he will be going.

He should be going but probably not for a couple of hours  Okay  we will come back and stay with him.

Text to Sherry… we are on our way back to UBC.

WE arrived at UBC just after noon… they were about to serve lunch.   We chuckled about our morning adventure and Chris said he saw me from the TV room disappear round the corner but was caught in a wheel chair traffic jam in the hall and  by the time he got to the front desk we were gone.

Lunch arrived and so did the Ambulance guys.  It wasn’t long until I was sending another text…..
‘WE are on our way to VGH and we saw Chris get into the Ambulance’.  Sherry arrived for work around the time we had arrived at VGH for the second time in as many hours.   It took a while to get him settled and everything done  Blood work, visits from the Doc,lots of questions (several times the comment was made that he was doing amazing, considering  the time since the accident). The nurse doing the first report….a new IV line, Dinner and a visit to the cafetieia.

Also he had a visit from Jon Patti +, Geli, Xani and Jeremy.  My friend,Jeanette had gone to UBC to visit him and had to return to  VGH so we had a nice visit.  Chris was settling down for the night when we left. Tomorrow he is on the slate for surgery. So we are praying all will go well and he will be able to get it done.   It turned out to be a bit of an advernture today.

Again we are Praising God for all He has done for Chris and for the promise that it will go well with him and he will live long on this earth. We thank God for the gift of life. We thank God for Chris.

We thank you for continuing to praise God for the miracle He is performing for Chris and Nina as they recover and look to Him for their strength

***Updated to add

Chris is in surgery now. Monday at 1pm. Thank you Jesus you are the Great Physician and we know your hand is on Chris and on the surgeons guiding them and giving them wisdom beyond their own. We pray in Jesus name for you Lord to give strength to Chris and that your healing will continue to operate in Chris body, soul and spirit until the completion of this Miracle is manifested.

Chris’ surgery on his leg was done this after noon. He arrived to his room around 4:00 p.m They cleaned out the infection and replaced the rod in his leg. They didn’t do any plastic surgery today. We haven’t talked with the surgeon yet. We are so thankful he was able to get this done today. He was awake but still weak from the surgery. He was in pain after but they were able to give him something for that. We are hoping he will get a good sleep tonight. We never stayed too long because he really needed to sleep Aunt Sherry said she would check up on him later tonight during her break.

    2030….sleeping
2240….sleeping until i stubbed my toe against his bedside table(ok, my night vision’s not what it used to be) Told me he was not in any pain, just really drowsy and promised he would go right back to sleep(until the next numbskull came crashing in)

0220….sleeping and remained that way for the 20 min i sat(quietly) at his bedside.

will check again on my way out in the morning but all in all, a very good first post operative night…Praise the Lord!

    love, aunty sherry
