Psycho Siblings
So, Josiah and I went in to see Chris today.
Word to the wise…..parking is HORRENDOUS at 10:40am on a Thursday morning! If I knew how to make my font any larger than that - I would…….It was seriously unbelievable. There is NO WHERE to park, and I drove around for 20 minutes (which ended up being okay considering…..) and then got a SWEET spot in the teeny tiny visitor’s parking lot right at the front door.
There is other parking right up the street at Children’s Hospital, but I am too cheap to pay, and would have rather walked 4 blocks. But that’s just me.
So, new building…..a little bit of stress for me, and I’m not even living there. I talked to Chris on the phone on Tuesday about the move, and he said that it wasn’t stressing him out, that he was just going with the flow and taking it easy.
Apparently, he checked out the whole place between Tuesday and Wednesday, and it’s not to shabby…they even have a SWEET weight room, and a gymnasium and a computer lab, and a bunch of other stuff, too.
Chris and I took this picture, and then died laughing ’cause Can we look any crazier?
At least Josiah looks somewhat normal….even if he isn’t looking at the camera.
Chris had OT (Occupational Therapy) from 10:30-11:30am, and I showed up at 11:05am, so I had to wait which wasn’t a problem, as Josiah was hungry, so we dealt with that, and then went looking for Chris. We found him back in his room getting hooked up to his IV.
He had a great session this morning, and what ever the measurment for how much grip strength you have is - Chris has over a 100 in his right hand, and is at a 10 in his left hand……Although that may seem like a huge discrepancy - I think that’s pretty amazing for a hand that the Dr. in Kamloops said would have to be chopped off, and this is only the beginning, baby! (of his rehab….)
Chris had a student nurse assigned to him today, and she was telling me that the staff is thrilled with Chris, even in the two days since he’s been at GF Strong the range of motion in his shoulder has increased by a noticible difference. They love his quiet understated determination and strength.
Chris even had a unexpected visitor today. Thanks for stopping by Garth. It was so nice to see you. I’m sure that I was the highlight of his day, but you came a close second…Ha Ha HA Ha!
Chris’s lunch was a nasty slimy piece of rubberized roast beef and gravy over a soggy piece of bread….hopefully dinner was better, eh Chris?
His IV was to be finished at 1:30, and it was (sort of almost).
He and his student nurse raced to not be late to his Physio Therapy session, and I left.
It was a much nicer day and visit than I just made it sound out to be, but I only have a few minutes before I have to take Josiah again (Jon’s going out for the evening - so I have about 7 minutes of arm free time left and I’m using it to update on here……aren’t I so nice?)
So, excuse that the banner at the top says that Chris is at VGH. HE’S NOT! I’ll fix it soon!
Go up the road to Laurel and 26th - GF Strong Rehabilitation Facility, Room 439, bed#1
His evenings are free, and if you get there and he’s not around, there’s a little orange notice on his wall that has his phone number on it…..Call him.
Here’s the picture of us not looking like such psycho’s…….doesn’t Josiah look happy?

I have missed you buddy…I have been up to see Courtney and she sends her love. I was thinking parking was SO HORRENDOUS at VGH that maybe I could park at G.F.Strong, visit you, then run down the hill to work….not so much eh, Patti? Anyway, I’ll be by to see you soon and just remember how much we love you. Alanna says she will see you on the 28th when she gets another xray to see if her broken scapula is healed up….you can have a ‘handgripping contest’…God Bless you xo
