Debbie’s thoughts
Here goes…
Thursday night Chris and I went and watched a highschool volleyball game. It was the Fraser Valley semi-finales. The great thing was, Chris ran into quite a few guys he knew from Trinity Western Volleyball and club volleyball.
The referee was even a ref back when Chris played in highschool. Chris said, “I can’t believe that guy is still refing.” He totally recognized the ref. The cool thing was, the ref recognized Chris and came over to talk to him after the game. It was really great to see so many people who had been thinking of and praying for Chris and us.
Chris knew and remembered many of the coaches. At one point he joked, “I bet my highschool team would have beat either of these teams.”
(What do you think? Was Walnut Grove’s Volleyball team that year really THAT good?)
It’s hard to express our gratitude for all of you who have shared, and continue to share this journey with us. NOt hard becuase its difficult, hard because..How do you come up with the words? It would take a really long time to give that kind of thanks. But trust me, we wil be thanking you for a LONG time.
I was asking God why one person has to go through so much; whether it’s Chris or whoever. I realize there are so many other people or families who are going through their own incredible and terrible stuff. So, why does one person have to go through so much? Why can’t the crappy stuff be shared around a bit so it’s not so much for one person?
(By the way, these are just my thoughts. It’s not that Chris has ever complained about this. In fact, the nurses and doctors continue to say what a positive and encouraging patient he has been.)
I think that whoever we are, we all struggle with things and yeah, they can seem alot for one person. Maybe by talking and being real with one other, being brave enough to ask real questions, being willing to be vulnerable with each other…maybe this is one way to share one another’s loads. I don’t know. But if we can’t physically take someones hurts and pains, maybe we can just be willing to share their journey.
So thanks to everyone who’s been sharing this journey with us. Thanks to all the guys who spent time connecting with Chris at the V-ball game. Thanks to everyone who has shared your stories and allowed us to share our; lightnening all our loads a little bit more.
PS. So do you think that Walnut Grove V-Ball team that year was really that good? Did they even win the provincials?

I would say Walnut Grove had a pretty good year back when Chris, Tyler, Dan, Mike and all them were playing!

Oh they were definitely that good and of course they won…thanks to their managers’ motivating stat keeping, reminders to WASH their uniforms, and water bottle filling, right Chris?
…okay, the guys might have had something to do with it too!

Yes! The manager is always key.
Anybody who can get 12 stinky guys to remember to wash their uniforms is a major player in team success!

I believe that the 2 provincial banners were due to the Loewen twins and big Maunula!!
As for beating those teams…would be a good match especially against LC team this year.
