Update from Last Week

Chris had a session with the Hand therapist. It looks like he will just do some of the hand things on his own until he has his surgery on the arm. Angele was in touch with Arm and Hand surgeon and Chris said because of the complications to do with a muscle that works the finger tips and sensation they have decided for the time being to wait. Seems the muscle or the nerve that feeds the muscle could be trapped somehow by the extra ‘bone growth’ causing unusual behavior. I am sure there is a more professional way to put it. So Chris had the initial evaluation and got some home work. And this will be another part of “the waiting game.” Now We are not complaining only thankful we get to do “the waiting game” (and that Chris is with us this Christmas).

Chris is also scheduled for a EMG in March. To do with the nerves and muscle response conductivity ( maybe?) it is like an ECG is for the heart, only it is for the muscles.

Chris has finished at the dentist now and today he went to see the Orthodontist. They did the preliminary work to prepare his teeth for the appliance that will start the reconstructive and adjustment work on his teeth. Next week he will get the braces.

The oral surgeon contacted us and has booked an appointment for the end of January.

Chris has adjusted his physio to mornings. The woman working with him only did Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. The first he could get in to see her was at noon. He found this really limited his day and got things off to a real slow start. She is still working with him but has set up times on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Chris had an appointment with Doc. Anton on Thursday Morning. Chris said it was a good one. Doc. Anton asked him how he was getting along at home now and what was happening. He is doing better all the time. I am so amazed and thankful as each new day seems to bring more recovery and He is able to do more things on his own. He is so Chris!

On Wednesday, Chris asked to stop by a place he had worked in Abbotsford. He wanted to see the guys. It was very good. This was one of the first times he initiated contacting others of his own. They were able to trigger other memories he had not remembered. At first he didn’t remember what they were telling him and then later as he recalled what they told him…the memories began to open up and he told me more details. It is very exciting watching him heal. How thankful We are to God and to all who have been and will be part of his recovery.

PS. We just heard from the hand and arm surgeon.. Chris’ arm surgery is scheduled for January 14.
