Feb. 19th, 2008 Just a routine visit to the specialist……

Edited to addChris has had his surgery and is not back in his room yet (as of 5pm) and we have no other info, yet……..we will keep you updated.

Chris went into see the Ortho Surgeon today. Regarding the sore on his leg and the pain he has been having in his left ankle. It became worst over the weekend and definitely there was infection now in the sore just below the knee and also there was leakage in a couple of spots where the flap is that covered the bone on the lower leg. It was inflamed and swollen.

The Doc. said this is not uncommon for the bugs to have found a place to hide somewhere on the rod and finally become strong enough to multiply again. They often have to go back in and replace the rod. He said they are hoping the bone has grown enough that they will not have to put the rod back in… but he will not know until he gets in there.

He arranged a bed for Chris and we stayed in town until 7:30 when he was to report to Emergency and be admitted. He will be doing the surgery hopefully in the morning. (Taking in to account that in VGH there are priorities… and he is close to the top of the list but there are others that if life threatening could bump him)

So we pray that God will continue the healing on the bone and when they get in there we pray the rod will not be needed any more… and that the infection will be gone for good. We pray for another of God’s wonderful and amazing miracles that Go above and beyond what the Doc can explain.

So many of the nurses who know him were on tonight and quite thrilled to see him so improved from August….. so he was getting the royal treatment and was quite comfortable. …. Besides the pain in his leg. Which you know, if he is complaining.. must really hurt.

We pray the Master Surgeon will guide the surgeon working on Chris tomorrow and give him wisdom and also surprise him with an amazing miracle to show who really is the Master surgeon.

It is wonderful to have others who stand with us in thoughts and prayers…
may God bless you.
Love Karen

Chris is in his room. The surgery was to debride the infected areas the flesh where the infection was and also the inside of the bone, and remove the rod. He was having a lot of pain, tonight. please pray he will be able to sleep tonight. He is sporting a blue cast. They have removed the rod and put in antibiotic bead to stop the infection. What’s next and when, is still a question to be answered. Thank you for praying.
