Life Lessons From Uncle Chris

Back when Chris was in VGH (most recently, like end of Feb beginning of March – I know you all needed to know this very important information because it is SO vital to this particular story…..NOT)

Keeping on going….back when Chris was just recently in VGH I really wanted to go in and visit him, but Josiah was sick. And his sickness kept on dragging on and dragging on and dragging on….do you get the drift. I was annoyed because I wanted to go in and check out his wounds cause I like looking at the gory-ness (is that even a word) of it all spend some loving time with my littlest brother.

I was trying to obey the “rules” that say don’t come in if you’re sick, because I’m good like that…..I really didn’t want to be spreading Josiah’s germs throughout the hospital cause although I believe in sharing…….well, that just the wrong kinda sharing.

In all honestly, I just didn’t want ‘Siah picking up any new bugs while we were there. i even contemplated going all “Michael Jackson” on his ass and just walking around with a blanket over my kids head.

After about the 4th promise of “I’m coming in tomorrow, FOR REAL THIS TIME! Ooooops, Sorry Chris not today…..

Chris went home!

So, then there was no problem ’cause as Chris put it…he’s just got baby germs and those don’t count.

Problem was that now the baby was so miserable and I didn’t want to be taking him in and out of the house and if I’m being just a little bit honest…I was so freaking tired from him being awake ALL NIGHT LONG from not being able to breathe outta his nose as he slowly drowned in gallons and gallons of snot. Yes, it was lovely and fun….thanks for asking.

So, after yet another broken promise on my part, Chris e-mailed me this little quote,

“tell that kid of yours to suck it up, after all it is possible to be stronger than the situations that pop up in your life”

True Chris, Too True!

It really hit me both funny and hard all at the same time. Funny ’cause….wel……Siah’s so little, but……… this bit of wisdom is coming from one who’s working through an unfathomably tough situation and doing quite well. That in and of itself is pretty telling of the character of the man sharing this bit of wisdom.

I’ll be keeping this quote in ‘Siah’s memory box and remembering it myself when I’m feeling tired or worn out.

Thanks for keeping it real, little bro!

Powerful comment …..keeping it is definitely a must!
Sorry to hear you’ve been up all night with ‘Siah. I’ve been up all night with a ‘crazed’ heater! Probably not near as frustrating….but frustrating never-the-less!

    Hey,
So I’ve been snooping around here since I first heard about Chris on facebook. I was thinking the other day that it’s probably been a year, and sure enough, 1 yr was this weekend. Just wanted to acknowledge that and say keep persevering through, God certainly has a plan for all that you(Chris) are going through!
It’s a great day to be alive. :)
