Oooooo Look, It’s finally an Update…
So, Here is an update from Mom (Karen), ’cause appaarently I haven’t been keeping things up to date, and well…….yah!
There are a lot of things that are going on in Chris’ life since the last post. He is recovering steadily.
He gets out with friends and family once in a while and this is a nice change from ‘the old folks at home.’
He still plays a mean scrabble game.( even championship play offs with Alanna and Uncle Dan.)
Enjoys the nieces and nephews when they come to visit. (Or a movie to talk through with cousins.)
Loves a good steak and lobster meal. And enjoys coffees with Aunty Sher.
Right now there are a lot of on-going things that keep Chris moving forward. One of his specialists told him that he was into the marathon section of recovery now. This year would be a lot of hard work and just plugging away. Physio, Orthodontic work… the continual adjusting of the braces to get his teeth aligned properly before there can be any surgery. Visits to the surgeons both Ortho for his leg and the Specialist who did his arm. Chris can now get his arm to his mouth on its own. His hand is functional.( this is the arm that is a miracle)
Still on crutches at this time, since the last surgery. Since the last visit to the Ortho Doc. Chris is able to put 30-50 pound of weight into that leg. He has now completed the IV treatments and is waiting to get the pic line out as soon as the IFD specialist gives him the OK.
Last visit to the Ortho Doc. He talked about bone grafting and will see how the bone is growing when he goes in next week and at that time will possibly schedule surgery for that.
Physio is what is taking the most time right now…. Chris goes 3x a week and also spends a lot of time at home working on stretches for both arm and leg. His physio was very impressed with him. He knows when he works on his arm sometimes that it is really pulling and when he asks him if it hurt…
Chris says, “that is just about enough.” The Physiotherapist told us at a meeting …â€This man just doesn’t complain. He works hard and his progress shows for it.†Chris has exceeded what was anticipated and they know that Chris will go so much further. He said Chris is a pleasant inspiration to everyone at the clinic; both the physiotherapists and the kinesiologists.. and also the clients.
Way to go Chris. We are so proud of you. Keep up the Hard work. And We Thank God for His promise that you would live long on this earth and it would go well with you.
