Blue Updates

I was chatting with Chris on Yahoo Messenger yesterday and we tried something different.

I don’t like it.

I’m just letting ya all know that right now, BUT….hey, we gave it a shot.

chrisjkennedys-webcam-3Here is a picture of Chris that I took off his webcam…..it’s a little pixelated and well….he’s blue, BUT…

You can get the general idea of how studly and HAWT Chris is looking now that his face is starting to shrink a little.

I even caught a bit of a smile…..now isn’t that nice to see?

Chris is doing well. He is starting to regain some feeling in his face. I guess when they basically rip your face off your head in order to do a little bit’o work on the jaw….well – when you cut through all the nerves, you end up a little numb as things heal up. Apparently he’s in the tingly feeling phase of healing. Fun Times there….imagine that your face felt like your foot or arm does when you sleep or sit on it funny……that doens’t sound like a good time in my books.

On Thursday April 23rd, Chris is going back into the hospital to have a bit more work done on his arm. As is possible anytime you do a surgery like they did, there is the possibility that a bit of “touch up” work might need to be done. It’s just a day surgery at the Diamond Pavillion at VGH….I just let you all know that in case we wanted to organize a pep rally outside on Laurel Street close to the Starbucks….anyone..anyone????

Just kidding!

So, keep Chris in your prayers that the day surgery will go smoothly and that his face will all heal up perfectly.

Thanks for reading, Thanks for commenting, and especially a HUGE THANKS for praying.

Well, I really don’t have an update because we (Jon, I and the 4 kidlings) boycotted the family brunch today as my oldest boy was up barfing the night away. It was awesome and while I really wanted to be with the family – I also just couldn’t see how it would be SO MUCH FUN to be sick and barfing when your mouth is wired (elasticized) shut.

The visual of the backlog and subsequent oozing, not to mention the pain that would be involved…..I’m sure that you’re all just thanking me for the visual, aren’t you? Hey, I was tame with this description – it’s a lot more graphic in my mind and I’m sure I coulda found better words to describe what I’m imagining….

The whole point of this post was to post the most recent picture that was phoned in to me……..so lets just skip the verbal painting and move onto to some serious goofiness.

Here’s Jon’s contribution…….

Are there any other brave souls willing to either post a comment or send in a photo?

An update with a little bit o’ somethin’ somthin’ for ya

First of all HUGE THANKS to all who have popped by and said, “HI!” It is so much fun to see who is out there and to hear what you are thinking. (If you haven’t had a chance to leave a comment yet – have I got the opportunity for you! Read on for more info.) We love being able to connect with you in some way….even if it is through the screen.

Here is the picture that Chris sent me yesterday. He’s looking studly, no?

Chris #4

As you can see, (or if you can’t – go here to see the set so far to compare) the swelling is going down and aside from having lips that look like he’s had some SERIOUS botox injections (which he hasn’t) Chris is starting to look pretty good.

He’s had two Doctors appointments this week. One on Tuesday and one on Wednesday and the greneral overall report is that things are going well. Chris is allowed to start eating soft foods now and to take off the bands (that are holding his head together) for eating and brushing his teeth. but he’s to keep them on the rest of the time.

Apparently they did some serious adjusting to the upper jaw and that is where all the fun started with the bleeding and all that jazz. Once again, we find out after the fact, that Chris wanted to make his situation memorable and that the whole bleeding out thing was actually pretty serious and well, we are just really happy that it all turned out well in the end. The seriousness of the surgery would account for the slower post surgery start to llife.

Chris, as usual, is not complaining (but he would be allowed to if it ever got to much for him, right Chris????), but just trucking along.

While I was waiting for him to send me a picture, I fired this off to him……

Patti

and he replied with this…..

Chris

and that got me thinking about how it might be fun to get a bunch of goofy pictures and throw them up here….

So, last night at Geli’s performance….you can go over here in a bit for more about that…I took these.

Now, here is where my brain starts kicking in to overdrive and where we need YOU!!!!!

I’d love to be able to post a whole bunch more goofy, funny, silly pics. It woud be fun to see and so if you were interested in contributing….we’re not looking for amazing photos of quality and beauty…these were all taken with my phone….so just a quick goofy shot…..if you’re iterested in helping Chris to not be so bored as he passes the time convalesceing or maybe just in being a part of something silly and fun, then comment and let me know if you want to e-mail a gooofy pic in to me or if you want to send me a pic from your phone. If you leave a quick comment, I’ll respond back to you with the where, when, why, how….you know, all that fun stuff.

So, what do ya think? Anyone on board?

Edited to Add:

Updates……with Pictures

Alright, so here are the pics that we have so far. We’ll probably keep posting the pics so that we (and you) can see the progress that’s being made.

It’s all about progress, baby.

I think that I’ll try to tell a little bit more of the story – as I understand it….I might get it wrong and if someone out there knows a bit more or needs to correct me on the details….jump right in.

Okay, so here is Chris the morning after…..

Chris the next day

When he sent this to me, I was surprised at the split in his lip….other than that, I figured he looked pretty good. I asked Chris about his lip and his response was, “You try to givve birth to a man’s hands and to his wrench and screwdriver and see how your lips handle it.” or something like that….I’m paraphrasing slighty….taking my creative license…..I’m allowed to do that right?

I also thought that they were going to fix his lip, not create an extra scar, but apparently when they got in there and started to break thing up they actually needed to break both the lower jaw and the upper jaw. See, they had to break the upper in half and when they did that a blood vessel broke and started a party and when they were trying to get that all shut down – that’s our best bet as to when what happened to his lip happened. Maybe his lip got burnt by the cauterizing tool or maybe it got caught by another tool or maybe it really did give birth to a man’s hand and just got stretched WAAAAAAY out.

Who knows….what I will say is that Chris looks WAY better in person than he does in these pics, but at least this captures the idea of it all.

Here is the second picture that he sent me a few days after the surgery.

Chris the days after

He looks a bit better than he did in the first pic. Probably helps that he’s not laying down in the hospital bed. Even with the cruddy picture quality you can still see those baby blues shining through, eh?

Apparently he has an appointment with one Dr on Tuesday and with the other on Wednesday. We stopped past Mom and Dad’s house yesterday to say hello and to give hugs and kisses and well, mostly to gawk and see if Chris looked like Frankestein.

I was pleasantly surprised at how these pictures really did him no justice. Now, maybe it’s love talking here, but I think he looks great. I can’t fathom the amount of pain he must be in (I’m thinking the super de duper rainbow of pills that he has must take some of the edge off, but seriously. His face is BROKEN and he’s got screws and plates and elastics and all sorts of stuff attached to him and well….it’s all for good, but right now……it’s gotta hurt.

I was whining about a canker sore that I have right at the back of my jaw that is like a crater of pain radiating up into my ear. I was whining about it and feeling stupider and stupider as I whined about my little cancker sore and here was Chris sitting in front of me and even when I asked about the pain he never complained…..just acknowledged it’s presence.

Seriously – he has the best attitude about this all.

And then we were chatting back and forth today on-line this morning and he mentioned that he took the bandages off. So, I asked for another pic and even before I could finish my question. BAM! Here it is.

Chris - no bandages

Excuse the stoned look on his face….it could be because he’s stoned or I was asking him yesterday if he was in that throbbing phase of healing….you know where you can feel your heart beat pulsing in your wound with every beat. Now imagine that you could feel that throbbing in your whole head……all the time….and there was nothing that you could do about it. OUCH!

He said that he feels like his head is bigger than his chest….and even though we can all see that it isn’t….I think that’s a pretty accurate representation of just how bad he’s actually feeling…not that Chris would ever complain or anything.

My mom was wondering if there is anyone out there who still reads this. It would be awesome if you could just even say, “HI!” in the comments to let us know if there is anyone else out there who checks in on Chris and the family.

The stats say we have a few, but it would be fun to hear from you personally……..I’m just sayin’…….
