Yup. I picked up Chris.

Actually, I was just gong into visit.

But seeing as it was Friday, and I didn’t want to sit in the eastbound traffic on the Hwy 1, I snuck Chris out of there so I could use him for the HOV. He was very accommodating.

No really, when I showed up to visit, his bags were packed and the nurse was giving him the final run-down. We had to wait for Dr. Bush to call back about the next appointment so I ran and got the prescriptions filled and then found us some sweet protein drinks.

Yay for Starbucks Vivano. Thank goodness Chris doesn’t have to give up his Starbucks. They have these sweet mango/ banana protein drinks. So feel free to pick up a couple and have a little visit. But don’t get the chocolate one for Chris. He’s not a fan. Me neither. The poor guy must have been starving. They had no protein drinks at the hospital! So he was supposed to live off soup broth and juice. Yummm.

We got the OK from Dr. Bush and the nurse and headed off. Not before Chris swiped a UBC Hospital towel for cleanup.
You know, Chris, it’s not a hotel. You’re not supposed to take those things!

Got home and chilled.

Chris got home yesterday. I’d give you a better update, but I’d totally be making it up.

I could go on for hours and hours about how well he’s doing and how he’s already blending up pizza’s to suck back through jumbo slurpee straws and how he’s up and training for a marathon….but none of it wouldbe true.

But…..I could make it sound true and VERY exciting…..but alas….not the case.

Debbie did go in and pick him up from UBC yesterday and I’m sure that if her or mom took a second out of their crazy busy lives that they could update us all on what’s going on…….HINT!!!! HINT!!!!!!

Or you could just chime in yourself Chris – HINT!!! HINT!!! HINT!!!! HINT!!! HINT!!!

I have a few pics of Chris in his post op glory that I am waiting on the thumbs up from the big man himself before I share them….gotta make sure that they represent the true beauty, right?

I’m just rambling now, and so I shall stop.

And I’m out!

I talked with my mom this morning and she was in with Chris and he’s doing well.

Apparently the extra blood loss yesterday had to do with a blood vessel in his face/head/jaw….ya know, somewhere up above his neck…I’m a little fuzzy on the details – just giving ‘em as I’ve gotten them…..

And so they had to do a little extra work to fix all that up.

What I heard last night was that he had one of those little dental sucker things so that he could suck all the much (and blood) outta his mouth. Fun times, right there, I’m telling ya.

Mom didn’t get in to see him until much later than was expected but she said that he was looking pretty good? Not too swollen – which is nice.

I guess that the blood loss thing and subsuquent clean up ate a little into their time and so they didn’t get his lip done, but….that can be done “in office” apparently – or something like that…..

I got a chance to talk to Chris today and while I didn’t understand anything he said at first…..it’s a little hard to talk when your mouth is wired shut – I did understand him by the end of our short conversation.

He’s doing good. He’ll probably be in the hospital for at least another day or so – I told him to stay and leave the bloody mess there and to heal up a bit before he went home…..So, he’ll probbaly be home either tomorrow or Saturday.

And then the real fun begins…..

Chris had to be at the UBC Hospital at 6:30am.

Him and mom headed in there and Chris was in surgery around 9ish this morning.

I just got a text that he is out of surgery and in recovery and that mom should be able to get in to see him in about an hour.

Things apparently went really well although he lost about a litre of blood which was a bit more than they exxpected, but then that’s the way Chris does things……it’s all about being more than anyone expects, right?

The Docs seemed pleased with his arm and face and Dr. Bush should be coming in sometime this evening to chat Chris and Mom up about how it all went down.
